Khan finds his morals being questioned when he meets a pregnant woman just before the London bombing.
It was a cold day and Dana wasn't growing any smaller. She was late in her third trimester and the little girl inside her was just about to come out. Instead of walking now, she waddled, and had to sit down and stop every few minutes to take a breath.
Daniel hadn't wanted her to go out and visit Aleaha today, but she hadn't seen her friend in ages, and since Aleaha could only get out of work for half and hour, they'd agreed to meet in a cafe for tea near the Starfleet base.
"Oof," Dana stopped, looking down and resting her hands on her massive belly. She breathed hard out her nose, willing herself the strength to walk one more street to the cafe. She couldn't wait for her baby's birth, so she could finally get back to moving like a normal person again.
When she looked up though, she saw a man watching her. He was tall and strongly-built, his inky black hair and bright blue eyes. He wore a long, black coat which Dana bet was incredibly warm. He was looking upon her like one might look at a dog or a cat that had been hit by a car, not dead but about to be. It was unsettling, but Dana gave him a nervous smile and a nod, and continued walking.
"Miss," She felt a hand on her elbow and she turned around. It was the same man as before. "Forgive me for asking, but how many months along are you?"
"Nine," Dana answered smoothly, folding her arms around her belly.
"What are you doing outside then? Shouldn't you be at home?" The stranger was awfully intrusive, and Dana frowned.
"I'm meeting a friend for tea," She said, drawing away. "And anyway, it's none of your business."
The man looked up at the skyscrapers, pressing his lips tightly together, as if he were waiting for something. He then abruptly turned back to her, his expression serious, and intense. He frightened Dana.
"Listen to me, and do exactly as I say," He said intently. "Leave London now. Cancel your date with your friend, and take the quickest cab out of the city. I don't care what you have to do, but take my advice."
"What are you talking about?" Dana took a step back sharply, her voice high and shrill. She didn't like this man, with his low, dark voice and his frightening eyes. "You're crazy!"
"Something...bad is about to happen, something that will harm you and your son-"
"Daughter," Dana hissed.
"Daughter, fine, whatever!" The man was shouting now. "Take a taxi and leave London!"
"If it's so bad, why can't you just tell me!" Dana shouted angrily, on the verge of tears. This wasn't how her day was supposed to go at all.
The man swiftly grabbed her hand, his grip bone-crushingly strong, and propelled her to the side of the street. He hailed a cab under ten seconds and all but pushed Dana inside. "Take this woman out of London," He threw several credits at the cabbie, who looked from Dana to the stranger in astonishment. "As quickly as you can." The man shut the door, a scowl on his face, and Dana stuck her head out the window.
"I'm calling the police!" She threatened. "For harassment!"
"Oh, soon enough they'll know my name," The man said bitterly, and the cabbie drove off. After several kilometers from city, Dana flipped open her cell phone.
"Hello? Yes, I'd like to report a -"
There was a huge explosion behind them, and both Dana and the cabbie swiveled around to see smoke piling up from the skyscrapers. Dana dropped her phone.
"Blimey," She clapped a hand to her mouth, realizing the danger the stranger had warned her about, and how he had just saved both her and her daughter's lives.
I refuse to believe everyone is truly good, and everyone is truly evil. That's why in a lot of my stories, I add a different layer to characters many people already know, because I like showing multiple sides to people. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it! Reviews are always welcome!
