A/N; I probably should've written a ClamGretchen or LazloPatsy for my first Camp Lazlo fic.. but I was rewatching Hello Dolly, so I ended up writing the most canon pair EVAR-- EdwardVeronica, twisted though it may be. I hope you enjoy!
Lacking Ambiguity
Her plastic smile never waned no matter what he did. Maybe that's why he loved her so much.
She was always there waiting for him at the end of another pointless day, smiling, eyes bright, just for him underneath his pillow. She would be there to ease his worries, his boredom, his occasional loneliness. She wouldn't upset him, or bug him, or make him feel inferior, or anger him... she wouldn't stop loving him, either. His beautiful, beloved Veronica.
She was his only solace.
And his friend.
His friend.
Edward smiled, his back turned to the twins (currently snoring), and he gently stroked her soft red hair. Covering her lower half with his blanket, he snuggled closer to his favorite girl.
"Hey, Veronica," he said softly, clasping her tiny hand in between his thumb and forefinger.
Yes, Edward?
"... I love you."
Veronica smiled. He smiled back.
I love you too, Edward.
And since she was his, since she was honest, since she was Veronica, he knew she meant it. And he slept smiling a plastic smile, too.
