Yellow eyes followed a small bee as it landed gracefully on a small lily, humming a small song as it carried on the circle of life. The two-toned man grazed the flower with his pooling cloak as he shifted on the rock he had taken refuge on. The bee, suddenly startled, flew away with a soft buzz, finding a new plant to rest on.

"Mmm.."

Zetsu was born a plant-like-being, and he was always strangely fond of, and somehow connected to them. He was a spy, and he would rely on the living things around him in a forest to help track down enemies. He had a fairly large Venus-fly-trap-like-thing that protruded from his neck and rounded around his face. His body was split into black, and white. His mind housed two separate persons within one single, shared body.

He was kicked out of the Village Hidden in the Grass for being a 'freak of nature'. He lived in the woods before Pein found him and took him in like his own.

Plants always calmed Zetsu.

Swinging his legs back and forth, bringing about a soft breeze to the lower branches, two green traps tightened around the owner's head and neck, trying and successfully keeping out the hard yet pleasant pitter patter of rain. No thunder could be heard from within the plant walls, and from what the foliage told him, there was no lightning to be seen, either.

The rain was something that always calmed the two toned man, as it helped him gather his thoughts during a mission, and gave a reason to stop from the long treks to and fro villages.

As a child, he would usually sit around the village and play in the rain, as no one was out and about to judge him. He could do whatever he wanted and nothing could stop him but the loss of this natural process.

The rain always calmed Zetsu.

Sighing softly, the hard walls of green began stretching apart, weary from the hard clamped position from the previous day, till the man could see strips of sunlight hitting his face. Squinting, Zetsu rubbed his eyes tiredly, not ready to get up and keep moving.

But alas, he had to, as Pein had requested he finish this mission as quickly as possible. Slowly sinking back into the tree, the two toned man thought about his boss.

Pein was a fairly kinda man, to his followers at least. He trusted Zetsu the most in their organization, and he trusted him in the full as well. The orange haired man had not resented him in anyway, and thought he was special, unique. To everyone else, Pein was known as 'Leader'. Yet, Pein had always allowed the strange man to skirt past and around this little rule. He always wanted to be polite, so while speaking to others, he always called Pein, Leader.

Leader always calmed Zetsu.

"You know, you should learn some manners, Tobi." A soft, kind male voice echoed throughout the deep cave walls. A deeper, gruff voice muttered, "Or the other members will kill you."

A bright smile was hidden by an orange swirled mask, and a voice called from further out, "Okay, Mr. Zetsu!"

Loud crashing was heard in the next door room, and not seconds later was a loud, ear crushing scream picked up as well.

Tobi always worried Zetsu to no extent.

Thank you for reading! This was supposed to be short, as this is going into our school's Literary Magazine.
Every time I read this I want to edit so much.
