The first time I laid eyes on her. The day she saved my life. I didn't know it that day but later, I knew, I had found love. My thirst for her crystal blue eyes maddened me. Everything about her was beautiful, so beautiful. A moon after I met her, I knew I had to meet her again or I would go mad. I strained myself when I tried to walk that first time but I couldn't raise suspicion. I headed out of camp, to the dirtplace, if anyone wondered. Then I sneaked out of the bushes as if I heard a piece of prey and ran, ran to the river. I went about, as if searching for prey until I saw her. She was with a patrol. I don't know what she told them but she waded across the river to come to me. I ran to the shore. "In the cave." I whispered. Silverstream ran into it and hissed at me "What are you thinking Graystripe? Why did you come back?" I shuffled my paws. "Well, I love you Silverstream." "I love you too mouse-brain. But this wasn't meant to be. The warrior code doesn't allow it. And our kits would be half-clan! It just wasn't meant to be Graystripe." Silverstream padded out to swim across the river. That broke my heart. I knew my heart wasn't broken anymore when I saw a message along the pebbles of Sunningrocks. It said 'It was'. We visited each other many times during that moon. That moon was a splendid one. Nobody noticed our missing presences, not even when I went out at night to visit Silverstream. We curled up in our little cave in Sunningrocks and watched the river roll by. That one was very special indeed. It was our first date. And when Silverstream had fully mended my heart. "Oh Graystripe. I was so wrong. Our relationship pushes beyond the stars in a very special way." Our tails made an heart, A true sign of love.

At a gathering, I heard Silverstream talking with Stonefur. "For the life of love Stonefur! I'm just going to speak to a ThunderClan warrior." Silverstream hurried over. "What was that all about?" I asked through my teeth. "He's getting suspicious and so is your friend Fireheart over there." Fireheart was staring at us with an wowed and weird look. "Let's go talk to him." I suggested briskly. Silverstream nodded. We walked over to Fireheart. "Hey Fireheart." I said smoothly. Silverstream shrugged. "Hello Fireheart." Fireheart gritted his teeth. "You two need to be more careful! Tigerclaw and Stonefur, you know; they can be trouble."Heh, deputies." I joked. Fireheart and Silverstream laughed. "What are you three laughing about?" Tigerclaw asked, flexing his sharp claws. "Lighten up Tigerclaw! I'm sure it was just a friendly joke." Whitestorm headed towards us. Tigerclaw looked up. "Still no sign of ShadowClan." "They'll be here anytime soon." Siverstream said. Sure enough, the leader of ShadowClan appeared. I sometimes wonder if she can tell the future.

In the warriors den, Fireheart confronted me when I was about to sneak out. "What are you thinking Graystripe? Tigerclaw! Are you mouse-brained? It's againsty the warrior code for starters!" I slipped past him smoothly. As slick as an adder, I say. Fireheart confronted me many other times too. Like right after they battled with Brokenstar of NoClan. That time Tigerclaw confronted me too. He hissed. "Where were you?" "Out hunting." I said quickly. Then Fireheart confronted me. "You mouse-brain! We could've been destroyed. And Tigerclaw is now super suspicious. I will not be involved with Silverstream anymore."

When she died I knew he was right. Through my grief, I saw he was a true friend and he only got in the way because he knew my heart would be shattered.
