I Saw a Forest
I saw a Forest. How I longed for that Forest.
Mushrooms growing from the forest floor. Golden rays coming softly through the treetops. And you by my side. The only friend I've ever had. The only friend I'll ever want. This Forest is not a regular place. It comes from within me. Yet it would be there without me. It is as old as the ages. Older. Yet it is as new as joyful sunrise. But fresher. It soothes all pain.
I saw a Forest. How I longed for that Forest.
It is completely detached from the world, its troubles, its faults, its limitations—my troubles, my faults, my limitations. It is total freedom. Yet it is total enthrallment. Nothing left to cry about. If I could only escape to that place. And take my beloved with me.
I saw a Forest. How I longed for that Forest.
She was my sister, my mother, my daughter, a kind gentle face. A warm soothing smile. Accepting me for who I am. Making me feel so right, so happy. But she's gone now. She was chosen to leave. I was chosen to stay to the bitter end...the bitter end.
I saw a Forest. How I longed for that Forest.
For I am the sacrifice. I was destined to be the Hero from the beginning of time. I could have chosen to live the life I wanted, and flee with my friend to that forest—so peaceful, so happy, so enchanting. But I chose to be the Hero; which is why I was destined to be the Hero from the beginning...Which is why I had no choice...
I saw a Forest. How I longed for that Forest.
The blood I spill—I'll live without it. The sweat I drip—It doesn't matter. But the tears I cry are what rips through my soul.
I saw a Forest. How I longed for that Forest.
I am the Hero, the sufferer, the burdened. I chose to live opposite to the Forest. For perhaps the Forest could never be, without my sacrifice that tears me away. I don't know where she is now. I only hope that by this suffering I welcome, and these tears with which I plague myself, she may find that Forest. For she and the Forest are one in the same...
I saw a Forest. How I long for that Forest.
