What He felt

Eric remained looking forward all through the funeral. He couldn't bear to look at his friends in spite of seeing a tear. He promised himself he wouldn't and couldn't be seen crying in front of his friends. But every time someone mentioned his sister's name, he felt like crying.

He missed her and he wanted to just start everything over so he could prevent what happened to her. Eric blamed himself for letting his sister get shot. He should have immediately taken her back to her personal officer. But he didn't. He just ignored it.

" We are very sorry to see Marisol Delko go, but we know she's in a better place now." the Father said, looking directly at Eric. Father Darin Meehan of the Miami Dade Catholic church had known Eric and his family for years. Father Meehan also knew how close his sister and him were. He remembered back when they were younger, always sitting by each other as if they were each other's body guard. No one could separate them. Father Meehan knew how horrible Eric must have been feeling at that moment and he hoped he would be okay.

" We now have Marisol's beloved brother Eric Delko with some words for his sister." Father Meehan signaled for Eric to come forward, but Eric wasn't there. His seat was empty…

Eric leaned over the sink in the Men's room.

" I can't do this. I can't do this." Eric said panting loudly as he started to sob. It was unbareable to sit there while Father Darin talked about his sister. Eric wanted nothing more than to just turn back the hands of time but he couldn't. And he hated that! Eric swore and banged his fist really hard against the tiled sink. He cried more.

" Eric?" A soft but concerned voice said from the doorway. Eric didn't look up. He just let the tears stream off his face. A few minutes later he felt a hand on his shoulder. That made him look up but it didn't stop his tears.

" I can't do it Horatio. It's impossible to let Mari go. I just can't do it." Eric replied in a defeated tone. He felt completely helpless.

" Eric, she's in a better place now. She doen't want you to be sad. Just be happy she's not in anymore pain." Horatio said as a single tear streamed down his face as well...
