This is the results of sleep deprivation, too much maths homework and my brother running around wearing a clown wig while I was eating tea.

Enjoy :)

"The great Sam Carter, blower up of suns, saver of races and killer of Goa'ulds, scared of clowns," O'Neill said, in a teasing voice.

"I am not scared of clown's sir," Carter replied in a stern voice.

"Carter you just shot one." He pointed at their feet, where a dead clown did indeed lay.

"He was a bad guy, just cause I shot him doesn't mean I'm scared of clowns," she said, defending herself.

"Carter you're shaking and I heard you whimper a little when you saw him." O'Neill was still teasing and it wasn't helping at all.

"Indeed Major Carter," Teal'c said, "You are in fact still shaking."

Carter held her hand up and saw that her hand was still shaking. She clenched her hand into a fist and pushed them into the pockets of her BDU's, hiding them from sight.

"Fine, yes I'm absolutely terrified of clowns, have been since I was a kid," she snapped, annoyed by the looks that her team were giving her. Daniel looked concerned, O'Neill looked smug, which made Carter want to hit him, and Teal'c looked the same as ever, calm faced and giving nothing away.

Seeing that she was angry, and knowing that an angry Carter was not good for anyone, Daniel piped up and said, "Coulrophobia is a common fear Sam, nothing to be embarrassed about."

Carter shrugged then turned and walked away, turning her back on her team and the dead clown. She sat not far away, where they had dumped their packs after Carter had shot and killed the clown.

O'Neill followed her and sat beside her, close enough for her to feel the heat that rolled off him. After a few minutes of silence Carter began in a quiet voice, "It's stupid and I know it but ever since I was a kid the sight of a clown gets me in a panic," she paused for a brief minute before continuing, "I went to a fair with Mark and he took me into the maze. He was fine and really enjoyed it but he lost me and since I was only six I got really scared and then a big clown jumped out of the dark at me and ever since I've had an irrational fear of clowns." She stopped and placed her still trembling hands on her knees, clenching and relaxing them over and over.

O'Neill gently placed his hands over hers and stopped them clenching. In a voice that held none of the teasing it had before he said, "Everyone is scared of something, it's part of human nature. You shot the bad guy, saved mine and Daniel's life and all while terrified out of your mind, so I'd say all in all you did good Sam."

She looked him in the eye, and seeing all the feelings there smiled. He smiled back then removed her hands, both of them noticing that the trembling had stopped, either because she had calmed down or because O'Neill's hands had done it for her or a mixture of the two. "Time to go back to the SGC," O'Neill said, standing then offering a hand to Carter which she took, "We need to get back." He turned, picked up their bags and began walking over to where Daniel and Teal'c still stood. He looked over his shoulder and said, "Explaining to Hammond how we managed to kill Chuckles the Clown will be fun though." He smirked as she scowled and continued to walk over to the rest of the team.

"Yeah," Carter mumbled to herself, "Not that it was my fault the Goa'ulds' have finally lost their minds and are dressing their Jaffa as clowns."
