Kurt jumped, he loved thunder and lighting but it never failed to surprise him when it hit. He was sitting in the window seat in the living room with a cup of hot cocoa and a warm cream fluffy blanket wrapped tightly around him. He used to sit under that blanket when he was small with his mother before she passed away when it was thunder and lighting and now it was a sort of tradition. It was Saturday and his Dad was at work, Carole was out with some friends and Finn was at Rachel's house so he had the house to himself, and that was just the way he liked it. He took a sip from the steaming mug and felt it travel down his throat warming his insides. He looked back out into the night and saw a bolt of light shoot across the sky, he smiled. His Dad used to say that his Mum came down in bolts of lighting to check on him from being in heaven but that we couldn't see her, so lighting storms were always special to him. They sort of made him feel connected to his Mum. Kurt leant his head against the cold window and watched another bolt of lighting strike. He was worried about school on Monday. Karofsky would probably beat the hell out of him. At least he had a friend now, someone who understood. Blaine. The only other gay guy he knew, he had been bullied too. He had been through exactly the same as Kurt but he had been able to move to Dalton Academy private school where they had a very important no bulling policy. But it was too expensive for his Dad and Carole to afford.

A knock at the door made him jump, he glanced at the clock on the wall…it was only seven. Dad and a night shift so he wouldn't be back until early the next morning and Carole wouldn't be back until later. Was Finn back already? Maybe he and Rachel had another fight and he had come home really early. He got to his feet and smoothed out his outfit, even though it was probably no one who cared what he looked like at the door. He put the blanket in a heap on the window seat and took his mug of cocoa to the table before walking into the hall way, stopping at the mirror to quickly smooth down his hair although it was already perfect before going to open the door.

Standing in the door way was a boy with thick black curly hair; he was slightly in the short side and was wearing only a thin black t-shirt and dark blue jeans that were drenched right through from the sheet of rain that was pouring outside. There was a flash of lighting and it lit up his face so Kurt caught a glimpse of a pair of warm but sad brown eyes, eyes that Kurt had only seen on one other person.

"Blaine?" Kurt asked narrowing his eyes at the boy in front of him, was it really him?

"Hey," Blaine said looking at the floor, water dripping from his hair that Kurt had only seen gelled back. Now it was messy and curly.

"Blaine, come in, you must be freezing!" Kurt exclaimed the shock wearing of. He grabbed hold of Blaine's arm and pulled him inside, "I'll get you a towel." Kurt said running upstairs and leaving the shivering boy standing in the hall way looking rather lost. What was he doing here? Is he okay? Kurt just concentrate making him okay.

Kurt ran back down the stairs with loads of towels. Blaine was still standing there not moving from the spot where he was when Kurt left.

"Blaine, Blaine are you okay?" Kurt asked wrapping a towel around him.

"I…I…umm…I…" Blaine said still looking at the floor; Kurt bit his lip worriedly as he wrapped another towel around Blaine, the boy was still shaking and Kurt didn't think all it was from the cold.

"Blaine, what ever it is it's going to be okay," Kurt said, "Come on let's get out of the hallway and we'll get warmed up and you can tell me okay?"

Kurt watched as Blaine managed to nod. Kurt grabbed him by the shoulders and steered him into the living room and sat him down on the sofa. Kurt wrapped yet another towel around Blaine, "I'll be right back okay?" he said as he walked back into the hallway and turned up the heating. He went into the kitchen grabbing his now cold cocoa on the way and throwing it down the sink before making two fresh ones and then carrying them back into where Blaine hadn't moved on the sofa and put them on the coffee table in front of the sofa Blaine was sitting on and then sat beside him gently.

"Blaine, can you tell me what's wrong?" Kurt asked after Blaine's shaking slowed down.

"I told my parents," Blaine said sadly looking at his soaking shoes.

"Told them what?" Kurt frowned.

"About me…being gay," Blaine said looking up with tears in his deep warm brown eyes.

"They didn't know?" Kurt asked sounding very surprised.

"No, but then when you came…and you were so brave, it made me feel like a coward, so I told them. And they…they kicked me out," Blaine said breaking into tears again.

"Oh God Blaine this is my fault! I'm so sorry," Kurt said rubbing his back comfortingly. If he hadn't gone then he would never have felt like a coward, and then he wouldn't have told his parents and he wouldn't be in this mess.

"No, no Kurt don't be silly. I would have had to have told them sometime," Blaine said seeming to calm down a bit shaking his head, "But…Kurt they just kicked me out, I have no clothes, no food, no money oh God what am I going to do?" Blaine said staring to sob loudly.

"Blaine shhh, shhh," Kurt said completely horrified, he wasn't really comfortable around tears, "It will be okay. Blaine I promise I'll make it okay no matter what it takes. You can stay here."

"Really? You're Mum and Dad won't mind?" Blaine asked looking up and wiping his eyes.

"Umm…my mum died, but my step Mum will be fine with it. I can convince my Dad don't worry," Kurt said.

"Oh, sorry Kurt I didn't know," Blaine said biting his lip, "Are you really sure?"

"One hundred percent, you can share a room with me or Finn he won't mind," Kurt said with a smile.

"Finn?" Blaine asked using one of the towels around his shoulders to dry his still dripping curls.

"My step brother, do you want a shower?" Kurt asked giving Blaine is cup of cocoa.

"Yeah I think I need one, thank you so much Kurt you're the most caring person I've ever met" Blaine said with a smile.

"Try looking after you're Dad since the age of seven," Kurt laughed standing up and offering his hand to Blaine who took it.

"As anyone every told you that you're amazing?" Blaine asked drinking the last of his cocoa. Kurt blushed a deep red on his porcelain skin and took the empty cup from Blaine's hand, "Seriously Kurt, I've never met anyone like you."

"You helped me, now I'll help you," Kurt said, "Wait what are we going to do about school?"

"Oh, my parents have already paid the rest of my Dalton in advance so I just have to get there. Luckily I have my car key in my pocket; I can just sneak and get it my car before Monday," Blaine said, "Right, where's you're shower?"

"Up the stairs, first on the left," Kurt said, "Want to see if any of my clothes fit?"

"I don't know, you stuff is pretty expensive," Blaine said, "I'll just wear this."

"Okay, but I get to take you shopping for new clothes," Kurt grinned eyes alight at the thought of shopping.

"But Kurt I have no money," Blaine sighed sadly.

"I do," Kurt said with a smile.

"No, Kurt I'm not letting you spend money on me! It's bad enough you're letting me stay here," Blaine said firmly.

"You don't want to stay?" Kurt asked biting his lip.

"Oh, no honey that's not what I meant…did I just call you honey?" Blaine asked was a confused frown on his face.

"Umm…yeah a little bit," Kurt said blushing bright red.

"Anyway…I'm going to go and take a shower," Blaine said covering up his awkwardness.

"Okay, I'll be down here," Kurt said as Blaine turned around and headed up the stairs.

"Thanks again Kurt," Blaine called. Kurt stayed still until he heard the bathroom door close before he sat back down on the sofa and drank his warm cocoa and then took both empty cups to the kitchen. He went upstairs and went into his Dads room and looked in his wardrobe, wincing slightly at the items in there, his Dad had no fashion sense. He grabbed an old grey flannel shirt and some old jogging trousers and went back down stairs. He sat back down on the window seat and wrapped the blanket around him, he smelt it deeply he could still smell the scent of his mothers perfume on it.

What was he doing? He'd only met Blaine's once before and he'd just invited him to live with him! He knew his Dad was going to freak, he should probably ring Carole and warn her but he was pretty sure she would be fine with it. He took the home phone out of its holder and dialled her mobile number.

"Hello?" Carole's voice sounded from the other side of the phone.

"Hi, Carole its Kurt," Kurt said leaning against the wall and crossing his fingers.

"Oh, honey is everything okay?" Carole asked, "I'm just in a taxi on our way to another pub."

"Sort of, my friend as just told his parents he's gay and they kicked him out and he has no money or clothes or anything and I was just wondering if he could stay with us for a while," Kurt asked biting his lip.

"Oh the poor love, of course he can sweet heart," Carole said, Kurt could tell by the tone of her voice that she was smiling.

"Thanks Carole, but my Dad…" Kurt started but he was interrupted by Carole.

"I'll take care of him don't you worry about it honey," Carole comforted him.

"Thanks Carole this means a lot to me," Kurt grinned widely.

"Don't worry about it sweetie, oh don't stay up too late will you?" Carole added in a very motherly way.

"Carole please! I need my beauty sleep," Kurt laughed, Carole laughed too.

"Goodnight sweetheart," Carole said.

"Night Carole," Kurt said before hanging up the phone.

Blaine came down the stairs looking a lot better. Kurt bit his lip, was Blaine always so…sexy? "Hey have a nice shower?" he asked pushing down his thoughts.

"Yeah thanks," Blaine smiled, "Who was that?"

"Just calling Carole, she said its fine for you to stay. I got some old clothes for you to sleep in," Kurt said pointing to his Dads old clothes folded neatly on the coffee table.

"Thanks Kurt," Blaine smiled, he sat down on the sofa with a loud sigh.

"Hey you okay?" Kurt asked frowning at Blaine's glum expression.

"I just feel so…unwanted," Blaine sighed again slumping lower in the seat.

"Hey, I want you," Kurt said, "You've helped me a lot you know."

"Kurt, I just told you to confront him. Not the most complicated thing advice in the world," Blaine laughed sadly.

"I didn't mean that, I meant that you went through the same thing. It just makes me feel like I'm not alone," Kurt explained.

"Well I'm glad I can help," Blaine grinned feeling a lot better, "How's that going? You confronted him yet?"

"No, I'm just so terrified, I just been avoiding him as much as possible," Kurt admitted, "and you thought you were a coward."

"You're not a coward Kurt, you're far from it. I ran when I got bullied but you're sticking it out, you realise how much I admire you for that?" Blaine asked.

"Thanks Blaine," Kurt smiled, "I defiantly want you by the way…as a friend I mean. We are friends right?"

"Of course were friends," Blaine smiled rolling his eyes, "You need more self confidence Kurt you're amazing."

"Not as amazing as you," Kurt blushed, "So what you want to do?"

"I don't know, wanna watch a movie?" Blaine shrugged.

"Sounds good,"…..
