A year and several months after the coronation of Fire Lord Zuko...
Suki knelt down to meet Azula at eye level through the bars of the asylum's cell. The princess sat upon the floor arms hugging her knees to her chest. The pose would almost look sweet if not for the heavy metal gauntlets and boots locked about the firebender's extremities.
"You know," Suki began almost conversationally, "the pain wasn't the worst part of the electrocution. Suffer enough of it, and the mind just detaches itself. You don't even realize it's your own voice that's screaming. No, the worst of it was the muscle spasms. The constant twitching that would keep me awake for days. It almost drove me mad." Azula continued to stare blankly at the opposite wall seemingly lost within her own mind.
"You tried to take away something precious from me, tried to break me, did everything you could to steal my hope." Suki continued, "I saw how much joy our sessions together brought you..." The Kyoshi leaned in closer. "I owe you thanks." The silent princess's shifted posture ever so slightly in her direction.
"Your fire tempered me and pushed me beyond anything I've known. When you grew bored and abandoned me to the Boiling Rock, you gave me dozens of sparring partners in the exercise yards and shower room. I learned a hundred ways to train in that tiny cell. I never would have had the strength to scale those walls or take the warden hostage without you." If not for the occasional blinking of the eyes, Suki would have thought she was addressing a doll.
"Fine. If you're going to be that way..." Her lips curled into a sadistic smile "Ty Lee is mine." Azula's gaze flickered towards the Kyoshi Warrior. "You cast her aside like she was nothing. My girls picked her up and showed her what true sisterhood was. Her aura is probably shining more than it ever was with you."
Suki relished seeing the moist beginning of tears well up in her former captor's eyes. "Ty Lee looks at me, and I notice. All that adoration. All that hero worship. Just like a flower, she's leaning towards the sun. She's a natural follower, isn't she?" Suki beamed, "It's rather intoxicating holding all of that power over someone; the girl gives so willingly...mmmm so very flexible..."
Azula's voice was dry, raspy, and barely audible. It was as if each word struggled to escape her throat, "l...will...kill...you." The Princess uncurled and crawled to the bars on her hands and knees. "You'll...wish...for lightning."
A cruel grin graced Suki's lips. "I don't put down mad dogs," she said as she rose to her feet. Her eyes gazed down upon the kneeling woman in disgust. "Come and challenge me like the princess I knew or die rotting here. It's all the same to me." Ignoring Azula's howl of rage, she exited the cell block without a second glance back
