A/N: For Yuugirurules12 for the Secret Bunnies Fic Exchange on the Digimon Fanfiction Challenge Forums. Sorry I couldn't do Yuugiru. ^^' I'm not super familiar with Hunters. Hope you like it.
Ken Ichijouji liked blue.
Blue was the color of the open sky under which he and Sam blew bubbles. The soapy orbs flew up, much like birds. Ken would watch them go with dark eyes shining in wonder. Sam's own followed them, though Ken never guessed a wistful meaning laid behind them.
Blue was the color of the device that shattered his world at the same time it entered the material world. Ken gazed at it with eyes burning with curiosity. When the small child tried reaching out for it, Sam stole it from the table and shoving his brother aside.
Blue was the color of the ocean he saw upon his first arrival in the Digital World. There, he met his life-long friend Wormmon and a boy. All Ken could remember of the boy was his startling blue eyes, promising to get him home.
Blue was the color of his tears when Sam slapped him. The little boy watched, eyes stinging as Sam yelled about stealing the device -the Digivice-that did not belong in the hands of a nine-year-old.
Ken Ichijouji hated blue.
It was the color of the ball that rolled into the street and the color of the car that ran Sam over, sending him sprawling broken into the street. Ken could only watch transfixed in horror. Red and blue flashed over his brother's broken body.
Blue was the color that decorated his family's small apartment, mourning the loss of the prodigy child. His mother hid all red from their small world, as if they sight would remind them all of the bloodless death of Sam Ichijouji.
Blue was the color of the light that drew Ken to the Dark Ocean. If he listened hard, Ken could hear the faint whisper of some being. Urging him, egging him to take what belonged to him and win what was truly his.
Navy was the color he dawned, commanding his warriors like a kaiser, like an Emperor.
Blue was the color of the annoying thorn in Ken's plan. The boy wore it on his blazer. He wore it on his Digivice. His Digimon bore it on its skin. He—Davis Miyamoto—and his allies met the emperor at every turn until his fall.
Blue was the color he erased from his room long after the defeat of VenomMyotismon. Hands eager to start a new path untainted by the haunting color.
Yet...blue was the color that helped him paint the walls a soft green.
Blue was the color of Ken's face as he stopped breathing at the realization. Soon, crimson painted his face when the eyes of the entire class turned to inspect the sudden shock of the high school student.
Blue was the color Davis wore when they first kissed. It was the same color of the scarf Ken used to hide his face behind in mixed shock and embarrassment. Davis had made such a fuss to be secretive about something, yet he didn't realize it. The falling snow set against blue lighting. He should have seen it.
Ken Ichijouji loved blue.
