Just Maybe

Category: Bit difficult to explain...Roswell/implied Smallville crossover. You'd have to be up on the storyline of both shows to get both, a little I'd think, but it's readable just for Roswell if you want :) Sort of AU

Spoilers: Season 2 Roswell/ Season 1 Smallville

Summary: Tess is an alien. But maybe, just maybe, thinking she's part of the Roswell four is a mistake.

Disclaimer: If I owned both or either one of Roswell or Smallville, I'd be rich. Or being escorted around the town by Nick Weschler, Eric Johnson, Michael Rosenbaum, Tom Welling, Jason Behr, and Brendan Fehr. Since I'm sitting here at my computer, I obviously don't own anything.

He'd screwed up.

He wasn't there when they woke up. When he arrived, all four of them were gone. It really wasn't his fault, they weren't supposed to hatch for years.

He found one wandering around in Kansas.

You could tell by looking at the girl that she was different. Her eyes were otherworldly; a shade of blue not seen in human eyes. She spoke no English, no language at all. She wasn't human, that was for sure.

She wasn't the Ava he remembered. Ava hadn't been blonde, had she? Maybe it was a design improvement by the genetic engineers. A way to hide her, a way to hide the power that she had.

And how had she gotten so far? Even a super alien couldn't travel that far within that amount of time.

Doubts aside, he started to raise the girl as his daughter. Gave her a name, Tess. It came from the back of a romance novel he found at a bus station.

Tess was certainly different- she didn't show any traditional Antarian attributes or powers, until she was 12 years old.

And suddenly the girl had super strength and super speed.

It was when they found the dupes that his suspicion was confirmed.

Tess was not Ava.

Ava was a brunette beauty, with deep brown eyes. Not a blue eyed blonde girl.

Tess was….something else.

Man, would he be in shit for this. Or the stuff on Antar, when he got back, that was worse than shit. Loosing the four, then picking up a phony or another sort of alien….just how stupid were these people on Earth? Are humans tragically just too easy too fool? Or do they not want to admit what sort of weird events happen within their leafy little hamlets?

Using his power, and making an uneasy alliance with Nicolas, leader of the skins, he fixed his mistake.

They changed both Ava and Tess.

Tess gained a new set of powers, genetically altering her cells to an Antarian formation. She gained powers typically only used by skins- mind control. She was very powerful, and very good at using her powers.

Ava gained a new look, changing her body to match that of Tess.

Nasedo buried his head in his hands as the two girls woke up. If he'd only been by for the monthly check a week earlier, then this wouldn't happen. He'd have the four, and he'd be raising them properly.

And Tess would still be wandering off in Kansas somewhere, searching for a place to belong.

Nasedo sharply spread up and moved into the right lane.

Tess looked up from her magazine. "Where are we going now?"

"Wherever I can find some answers." Nasedo muttered, turning off the highway.
Maybe, just maybe, the four would be here.
