Over the Stars…
"I want to go over the stars with you," she said quietly, lying on her side. Beside her, he made no sounds. He was simply listening. It was so hard to find someone who would do that for her anymore.
Gaz was a beautiful, well-formed nineteen-year-old. She had truly "become a woman," as her dad put it when he finally noticed her one-day. All the curves that were supposed to be there were in place, and perfect.
"You look so much like your mother," her professor father always said. She could only smile and take it as a compliment. Her mom had been dead so long that… well, so long that she could no longer remember anything about her.
The smell of sweet sex was lingering on the air, settling over her body like a musky perfume sprayed from an atomizer. Gaz put a pale hand under her rounded chin. "If Dib knew where I was, he'd kill me," she said softly.
Beside her, Zim simply grunted a response. He wasn't fully awake. That was okay with her. That was always okay with her.
He'd been taking hormones to make himself grow taller like the other students, to avoid suspicion. The hormones had taken such a toll on his slender Irken body that it was now obvious from the way his ribs pressed against his body… he wasn't going to live much longer. Zim took another shallow breath and she could practically see his lungs move.
"I'm being unfair to you," she said softly.
"How?" Zim asked quietly, lifting up his head.
"You're dying, and here I am taking up your energy with my stupid sexual desires. I hate… I hate being human."
"And I hate being Irken," Zim replied.
"You don't mean that."
"No. Not really. But I hate being forced to obey the orders of the tallest. They don't understand. They don't understand how much you mean to me…" he placed a hand over hers. "They think this is sick."
Gas smiled at him. With the moonlight streaming in from behind her and through her messy hair, she looked like an angel. "Then let's do it, Zim. Let's go to the stars together."
"Fuck the stars. Let's go over the stars," Zim replied quietly, drawing a pained breath.
Gaz put her hand in his and lay beside him. "Will this hurt for long?" she asked.
"You won't even feel it," he replied as the self-destruct button appeared on his arm. Gaz clung even tighter to him.
"Will Dib understand?" she asked quietly. "I don't want to hurt him." Despite all her words, she really did care for her brother. The thought made Zim smile, even though the simple act was painful for him. Why had he been so stupid with the hormones? A little was good, but more was… more was definitely not better.
"His worst enemy will be gone. He'll be happy. I'm sure he'll miss you, but…"
"I don't care, because I love you, and we'll be… we'll be so happy together." Gaz wiped a tear from her eye, not wanting it to fall on Zim and burn him.
As Gaz held his hand, Zim pressed the button.
Then they went over the stars together.
