Though she'd been training, Jemma Simmons wasn't a field agent. She knew full well that she lacked the necessary skills to take down somebody like Bobbi in any form of combat. So she used the skills that she had developed through her years at Shield and before.
She lied. Pretended that she didn't know – hadn't been alerted yet – about Bobbi's treacherous behaviour. She had been startled at first, when Bobbi had sneaked up behind her, yes, but she had quickly regained her composure. If her time in Hydra had taught her anything, it was to keep up appearances, hide behind a mask of sincerity.
She played the innocence card, keeping an antsy Bobbi with her for as long as she could muster without her getting suspicious. And then she used her other well-honed skill, science. Giving the unsuspecting agent first one tiny, harmless looking rod, then continuing to rummage around like she was looking for something important - which she was, just not in the way Bobbi thought - always disguise a lie with the truth.
Still she wouldn't say she wasn't relieved when she finally found what she was looking for. The other rod knocked Bobbi out in seconds. That was it, work completed successfully, and she didn't even have to throw a single punch. It was safe to say she was pretty proud of that – and she had a right to be – not everyone could take down such a well-ventured Shield agent as Bobbi Morse without even getting their hands dirty.
She promptly used the walkie-talkie to call Coulson and May. With one down there was only one to go. The why-this-was-happening and who-was-behind-it would have to wait till later. Coulson was there swiftly, pleased by the capture. And for a short second it looked like they were on top of the situation, that was until their own weapons were so cruelly used against them. Dendrotoxin flooded the building, and she – along with the rest of the agents – was subdued by her own science.
She might not possess any ninja Kung Fu skills, but she had the heart of a true Shield agent, and like her science, she wasn't always as innocent as she looked.
