A short Neville story.
Disclaimer: I am only borrowing the characters and all magical aspects of this story from the lovely JKR.
Written for Angel-of-Cake's food challenge. I got "Neville Longbottom eating a cheese sandwich at the Burrow."

"Morning Mum!" Ron chirped as he ran down the stairs, the smell of bacon and eggs filling his nostrils.
"Good morning, sweetie. You hungry?" Molly piled the food onto a plate for him.
"Starved, thanks- Neville? What are you doing here?"
"Mm! I wan ino yo sista an yo mum ma'me a cheese sanwhish."
Ron stared blankly trying to process what he had just said. "Yeah, okay. I didn't get any of that."
Neville hastily swallowed his food so that he could repeat himself. Unfortunately the food wasn't chewed quite enough yet and he began coughing. Molly passed him a large glass of juice to wash down all the food. "Hm. Much better. Thanks Mrs Weasley."
"No problem, dear. I'm going outside to deal with some garden gnomes. If you need me, or want to help," she hinted at Ron, "I'll be there."
"Yeah, got it. So Neville, before you take another bite, what are you doing here?"
"I ran into your sister this morning and so we came back here, and your mum made me a cheese sandwich."
Ron nodded once then shook his head. "When did you run into her? It's still early morning."
"I ran into her in your front yard."
"...okay." Ron wasn't quite sure how to respond to all of this.
"Your mum is an excellent cook!" He finished off the rest of his sandwich. Do you think she'll make me another one?"
"No," Ginny laughed as she bounded into the room. "That's your third one already!"
"It's good! My gran makes terrible food. It's a nice change."
"Neville?" Ginny asked sweetly, "Why were you in our front yard earlier?"
"Er... No reason really. Just got... lost. I'm gonna go help your mum!" Suddenly he was up and out the door. Ginny and Ron met each others confused expressions, shrugged then ate their breakfast.
"Mrs Weasley, do you mind if I help?" Neville offered.
"Sure, of course, if you like. Such a sweet young man you are." She beamed at Neville, not once had any of her kids offered to help de-gnome the garden.
Neville pulled on some gloves and got to work. He surprised Mrs Weasley with how easily he dealt with the task. He really did have a knack with gardens. "So, what are you doing here? Why aren't you helping your grandmother at home?"
"I, er... I kind of wanted to..." His voice trailed off so it was no longer audible.
"Sorry, I didn't catch that."
He sighed. "It's kind of embarrassing."
"Don't worry about it. I won't let it get passed me, I promise."
"I wanted to ask out Ginny... But then when I saw her she started talking to me about Harry again. I forgot that they were getting back together." He looked sad and Molly Weasley couldn't stand it when people got upset.
"Oh, well. Why don't you come inside and I'll make you a cup of tea to cheer you up?"
"Okay, I guess... Could you also make me another cheese sandwich?" His voice was hopeful.
"Of course. You've already had so many though. Boys always surprise me with the amount they can eat." She thought of her sons and how they could eat 24/7 and never get full.
"They're so delicious though," he smiled sincerely up at her. "I've never had such tasty cheese sandwiches, not even at Hogwarts."
"Okay then, whatever you like."
Neville's grin almost reached his ears at the thought of another sandwich. And he enjoyed it so much he forgot all about his Ginny woe's. He had a new love. Molly Weasley, in the kitchen, with a sandwich.
So what did you think? That's what I want to know! I really would have preferred Neville/Ginny over Harry/Ginny, but clearly I had no say in the matter.
I really have no idea why I went all Clue in the end, but I like it now. =)
