Snape stood in the dark hallway on the seventh floor waiting. He found many students up and about past curfew on other floors for the past few weeks when he deducted points from Ravenclaw from Luna Lovegood.
"You know why I am out after curfew Professor Snape." The blonde haired witch murmured before making her way back to Ravenclaw tower, not bothered by the 10 points he deducted. She was on the sixth floor.
He stood, leaning against a stone wall and waited, contemplating the blonde, eccentric words. All of the other students took their points and curfew without a word. He knew they were up to something because they never complained. You had to worry when students did not complain. That meant they were UP to something,
And how they found the come and go room was unknown. You had to have the deepest desire to find it.
Snape watched the other students leave, furtively looking around before leaving. He let them pass unhindered as there was bigger fish to fry.
The red headed brat Mr. Weasley walked out of the wall, glancing around before running off. Bigger fish to fry, he reminded himself.
After thirty minutes he watched Potter appear, glancing left and right before calmly walking away. He was bigger fish and it would be so much pleasure in catching him out but decided to let the fool hardy boy pass him by.
Another thirty minutes passed and a frizzy brown haired girl walked out of the wall, tripping and spilling her books.
Snape melted from where he was hidden and strode to her.
She looked up, frozen in fear.
"It seems my appearance is unexpected Miss Granger." He spoke in a silky voice, flicking his wand and the hallway lit in bright light,
She watched him pick the books up one by one. "Dark Hexes Through The Ages, How to protect yourself Using Simple Charms….and others" Severus murmured. "These are not on the curriculum that Professor Umbridge teaches. I think I have found a conspiracy. "
Hermione remained still and looked into his eyes when he growled out in command. "Look at me girl!"
Too late her eyes snapped to his and he was within her mind picking at everything.
After what seemed an eternity he left her mind and she slumped to the floor.
She looked up to him in fear knowing he saw everything in her mind using Legilimacy.
Snape handed the books back to her without a word and crossed his arms looking down to her, face without expression.
Hermione waited. Would he turn her in to the horrid bitch witch of a professor dressed in pink?
It seemed like an eternity passed before he uncrossed his arms and flicked his wand out, extinguishing the light and the hallway fell dark once more.
"Carry on Miss Granger." Snape spoke out.
She heard the click of his boots and waited until there was silence before going back to Gryffindor tower.
She never told anyone of when she was caught and it was not until the one year celebration of the Final Battle that she told Harry and Ron her secret.
Harry held her hand. "That makes sense knowing who he was after everything passed. So many things he left hidden. He could have killed me when Remus turned into a werewolf. He was the bravest man I ever knew."
Hermione sat at the table holding his hand. "That he was Harry. That he was."
