'Take me with you!' he imagines her saying, not taking no for an answer. He just wants to see her eyes when she sees all the things that he's seen and meets all the people he's met. But she's more reasonable about this traveling-and-fighting-heartless thing so she waves goodbye with a smile eerily like the one she gave him in the very beginning of it all, and he sets off. (the wish then sighs and settles quietly inside him, defeated.)

He climbs into the ship, her lucky charm swinging around his heart, and he thinks in his youthful naïveté that there's nothing I wouldn't do for you stopping short at I love you because he's not sure that he'd call it that.

There's just so much her filling his heart that I love you doesn't seem to be enough.
