Away in a Barrel

I was sort of gambling. No, No! Not like that, I was just... trying to win something, Yea. You wouldn't like to see a ten year old like me gamble with a pirate, right? Well, don't worry, I wasn't doing that. Besides, that isn't the point. The beginning of the point is that Tetra called me as soon as I have won a spoils bag from Niko, the pirate that I was gambling...uh...I mean winning...stuff...from.

I climbed up to the crows nest, where Tetra stood, looking out at some island that stood before us. The island looked dark, as dark as the sky was now. This island must have been cursed to always be night, for it was noon just an hour ago.

Tetra said to me, "have you been playing those stupid games with Niko? Never mind. You see that island up ahead?" I nodded. "That's the Forsaken Fortress, where your sister is probably being held captive. We can't get over there in this ship, or they'll see us." Tetra bowed her head sorrowfully. While I was looking at the seagulls, which were hanging out where my sister must be held captive, (The seagulls love my little sister) Tetra must have come up with something. I turned to face Tetra, only to see a fist coming for my head. Then I blacked out.

I woke up to find myself stuffed in a barrel, and the barrel was placed on the ship's catapult. I screamed when I found out what Tetra was going to do, and squirmed, trying to get out. Tetra, who stood next to the catapult, said "Stop it! Do you want to go save your sister or not?" I stopped wiggling, but I didn't want to do this!

Three!

I still had a look of horror on my face.

Two!

All I could do was sit there and frown.

One!

I grit my teeth, eyes squeezed shut, waiting for it to get over with.

I soon find myself flying in the air. The boy who went away in a barrel. I screamed at the top of my lungs, gripping the edge of the barrel. The wall of the fortress was coming straight at me.

You know how in those cartoons, where people might splat into some wall face first on complete accident? That is just what happened to me. It is no laughing matter! I literally STUCK to the wall for about three seconds before falling into the cold water below head first. I swam to the shore, and checked my stuff. The new spoils bag was there, and my shield was there, but where was my sword?

Suddenly, my pocket started to glow. I reached in it, and pulled out a peculiar stone out. "Hey Link!" I heard Tetra's voice coming out of the stone. "Ha ha!" Tetra laughed. "The look on your face! Whoops, your sword must have been flung to the top of the fortress. I have to be more careful where I aim my people! This is a pirates charm. I can see you, and obviously you can hear me, so I can give you any tips that I have! Okay?" "Okay." I said, pocketing the charm. This is going to be harder than I thought.
