Zuko is with the gang in this.
"What do you want," Zuko screamed. He had just been rudely awakened from his sleep by a rolling boulder.
"Shut up Zuko, do you want to wake the others up," Toph said quietly.
"Well, do you want something," Zuko said annoyed.
"I wanted to ask you a question."
I curious look came on Zuko's face.
"I couldn't ask Aang, Katara, or especially Sokka," Toph said.
"Well, what is it," Zuko asked a little less rudely.
"I wanted to know what it feels like when you're in love,"
"Toph," Zuko said, "What are you talking about."
"I'm asking you what it feels like. What is the feeling you get in your stomach or the feeling you get in your head. I don't know, so I'm asking you."
"I guess you feel contended or completed. The way a child feels around his mother."
"Sorry Zuko, if I don't know what you're talking about, but I never had the best relationship with my mother," Toph said bitterly.
"Have you ever loved anyone," Zuko said quietly.
"If you don't count earthbending, than no," Toph answered sarcastically after she had pondered for awhile.
"You've never loved another human before," Zuko said.
"I already told you that," She said angrily, "No one has ever understood me and I don't expect anyone to."
"Sorry," she said quieting down a bit "I just want to know, how you know, when you're in love with someone and how do you know if they are in with love you,"
"Sometimes, you love someone so much it hurts to be around them and sometimes you love someone so much you would die for them."
"Sometimes," he continued, "You love someone so much you want to spend every moment of your life with them. But it you want to know if they are in love with you, you have to ask them yourself."
"How do you know what kind of love it is," Toph asked
"You just know," Zuko said, "and for some people, you have different types of love. Like with my mother, it was the love you will feel for someone your whole life. I necessarily wasn't going to be with her forever, but I still feel that love inside me."
"You were really close with you mother, weren't you," she asked.
"Yes, I was and I always shall be."
"Like with your mother, how do you keep someone with you that you love, when they are not here on this earth anymore?"
"You always have them, because they are in your heart and with real love, they will always be there."
"I feel kind of jealous of Katara and Aang and the way they feel about each other. I want to feel that way about someone to"
"You will some day, and when you do, I'm sure it will be someone great," he said smiling.
"Thanks," she said smiling.
"Anytime," he said.
That night Toph fell asleep thinking about what it would be like for that great someone to be Zuko, but what she didn't know was that Zuko was thinking the same thing about her.
