Karen McCormick was in Greenly, Colorado in a foster home with her two brothers, Kenny and Kevin, after their parents had been arrested for having a meth lab in their backyard. It was about the middle of the night and Karen was still wide awake. She was clinging onto her pink princess doll, scared.

She remembered what Mysterion had told her the night before, but she was still scared and couldn't seem to calm down and go to sleep.

"Pinky, why are we going to be able to leave this place? It's so scary here!" she whispered to her doll when she began crying again. "Guardian angel, where are you? I really could use a friendly face right now."

Suddenly, Karen saw a shadow on the wall of the room. She glanced to see that Mysterion had once again returned to her. "Karen, why are you crying again?"

"I'm scared, guardian angel. I know you said everything is going to be alright, but I'm still scared." she whispered.

"It's going to be ok, Karen. You have just got to keep on believing that." said Mysterion.

"I know it will be. I'm just really scared right now and I don't know what to do." Karen cried.

Mysterion quietly landed on the floor of the bedroom and sat down next to Karen on the bed. "I know your scared, Karen." he said when he got an idea. "Karen, I want to show you something, if you just come with me."

"But what if the foster people find out?" Karen asked.

"They'll never know, Karen. Just take my hand." Mysterion whispered as he held out his gloved hand.

Karen grabbed Mysterion's hand and held it tight. "You better hold onto my waist tightly. I don't want you getting hurt." Karen obeyed him and latched herself around his waist.

Mysterion moved with ease, even with an eight year old child on. He hopped up through the window and jumped from the window, landed safely on the ground with Karen safe as well.

"Come on, follow me." Mysterion said as he grabbed ahold of Karen's hand once more and began running forward, causing Karen to begin running as well.

They ran off of the foster home property and into an open field that was right next to it. Above the field, the sky was filled with many twinkling stars.

"There are so many stars out tonight." Karen said aloud, no longer worrying about being caught with Mysterion. "What did you want to show me?"

"The stars. No matter what happens in the day, at night they are always there, shining brightly." he said to her. "Like I will always be."

"But what if you can't be there every time?" Karen questioned.

"Let me explain to you something. Even if I can't be there in person, my spirit lives within you, Karen. It will always protect you from danger, even if I can't do it. It will give you the strength to fight if you must." he said.

"Your spirit lives in me?" Karen questioned. "But...I don't understand..."

"Remember how I said that I'll always be with you? I will be with you in your heart and soul. Even if something were to happen to me, you'll always be safe."

"You'll be able to protect me even if you can't come to me?"

"Yes, Karen. My spirit that lives in you will cause you to defend you, so I am still defending you even if you must fight for yourself." Mysterion explained.

The last sentence Mysterion told Karen clicked into her brain. He'll always be with me, even if he can't be with me like this. "Can I go back to the foster home, guardian angel?"

"It is late." Mysterion said as he took her back to her bedroom and she curled herself into bed and looked over at Mysterion.

"Thank you." Karen whispered.

"You're welcome and remember I am always there for you, even if can't see me." said Mysterion when he disappeared once again.

I believe you, guardian angel. You will always be there, even if I can't see you. Your spirit lives within me. Karen thought before falling asleep.
