A/N: This fic is for the lovely Katie Lynn :) She is an amazing author and friend, and this is her Christmas present. I'm writing it in second person, so it's something totally different. Please let me know what you think!
It's not polite to eavesdrop.
But come to think of it, your relationship with Nate Black is anything but polite.
You listen to him as he's telling his best friend (your boyfriend) Shane about the two of you. About the kisses you shared, the talks you've had, and how you've given each other everything.
Yes, everything.
It was an accident, you tell yourself. It's not like you meant to break Shane's heart. You love Shane, but you're not in love with him.
But you were. Until you met Nate.
You turn back to the two boys. They're fighting. You feel guilty, because this is really all your fault.
You remember everything about that fateful night. You told Nate all your hopes and dreams. You told him how you always wish on shooting stars and wait for 11:11. He laughed at you, but you knew it was only because he did that too.
Shane didn't. He didn't know anything about those things. It wasn't that he didn't care, but because you didn't want to tell him.
Your guilt resurfaces. Shane didn't deserve any of this. He didn't deserve being toyed around with. You knew that. But you just couldn't help yourself.
The night Nate kissed you, he was wearing green. It's your favorite color on him. He tasted like spearmint.
It was the same night Shane told you he loved you. And you, not wanting to feel bad, said you loved him back.
Your life was full of lies. Nate told you he was tired of being your side project, your dirty little secret. You cried and begged and told him it wasn't true.
He left you that night. For three months, six days, and 4 hours, But who's counting?
You would see each other on occasion. Your conversation was always polite, but nothing like it used to be. Not even close.
You knew he'd come back. When he did, he told you it couldn't be a secret anymore. He wanted to tell Shane. You know, your boyfriend.
You couldn't do it. So you had Nate do it instead.
And here you are. Staring at the two boys you love, fighting over you.
You're biting your nails. Your palms are sweaty. Words cannot describe your anxiety.
The room becomes silent. They both come out of the room. Shane doesn't even look at you. You can't blame him. He slams the door as he walks out the door.
And out of your life.
You haven't even realized you've been crying. Nate takes your hand and wipes your tears away, and tells you it's all going to get better. He tells you that he's never going to leave you, and everything will be okay.
You cry into his shirt. You feel like a baby. But he keeps telling you that everything will be made right, and you can be together now.
And you know he's right.
A/N: So Katie Lynn, I am sorry that was not very good :( But I wanted to give you something totally original! I promise your birthday present will be better!!
Anyway, please let me know your thoughts and review! Should I just quit second person all together? Haha.
Thanks so so much!
-Caitlin:)
