I was bored on my night shift so this came out of me.
Should Have Noticed
Realisation is something that just comes right out of nowhere, and after it hits you, you wonder 'how on Earth did I not notice this before?'. You feel like you should be slapping yourself for not noticing sooner, because it's now become so damned obvious. It hits you like a Bludger.
Sirius Black knew what that felt like. He'd been hit by Bludgers many times, as he was Beater on the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Most of these times resulted in him lying on a hospital bed in the hospital wing of Hogwarts, and Remus Lupin would be there comforting him. Of course.
Sirius sat on his bed shaking his head in disbelief. How could he have not seen that he was in love with his very male best friend, Remus?
He should have noticed how blind he was in the world except when he saw Remus. He should have noticed how numb he was in the world except for when he felt Remus.
His heart swelled up slightly in his chest. Remus was perfect. How had he not noticed the kind, warmness of Remus's golden eyes, or how Remus's smile made his heart race? How had he not noticed that he was generally glowing when he was around Remus?
Sirius was startled out of his thoughts when the door opened and the very person he was thinking about was entering the room.
Remus looked at Sirius and smiled. And then it clicked.
He should have noticed that the looks that Remus gave him were full of love. He should have noticed that the funny feelings inside him meant that he wanted to kiss Remus. He should have noticed that the love of his life was standing right in front of him.
Sirius grinned and decided to do something about his realisation at long last.
With no second thought, Sirius jumped up from his bed and grabbed Remus, pulling him in for a kiss that ignited everything inside of him.
And finally he was content.
~The End~
