It was early morning on October 5th as the gray light of
first morning made graced the skies with its presence. As was usual, Egon
Spengler chose this time to awaken. He sat up and stretched. Then he stood,
walked into the restroom, and examined his reflection. Egon almost laughed
at his tousled platinum hair and tried to comb through it with his fingers,
which proved useless. He then started the shower and, well, you know the
rest.
Suddenly, whilst Egon was showering, another figure awoke. It was none other than his colleague Winston Zeddmore. Since Egon was already in the shower, Winston decided that he would try to surprise him. After all, it was Egon's birthday. Winston hurried to the kitchen and got out his tools. And by tools I mean his cooking utensils. He set to work immediately on a very special birthday breakfast. As if by radar, Peter Venkman sat upright like an electric shock had hit him.
"Mmmmmm. something smells good. Zed must be up already." Then it hit him that he and Ray hadn't wrapped their gifts for Egon yet. "Holy Kryptonite! Ray, wake up!" "Unnh." was the response from Ray's bed. Suddenly, a noise drifted from the bathroom that made Peter clamp his hands over his ears. "Damn! I know it's his birthday but does he have to sing The Ride of The Valkeries?"
Apparently Egon was singing opera in the shower again. "Ray! Get out of the bed or no more watching Dopey Dawg!" Ray awoke slowly then shuffled out of bed towards the bathroom. He was so sleepy that Peter had to stop him before he opened the door. "You do not want to go in there." When Ray heard the singing, he was truly awakened by an almost fatal thought. "Peter! We never wrapped our gifts! We fell asleep last night instead!" "Yeah, I know. Let's just hope that Janine didn't buy Egon another spiritual object that will send him hurtling through space and time." Oh, but if Peter only knew how right he was.
This time she had bought a journal that supposed to be that of Leif Eriksson written in Nordic. Heaven only knew where she bought this. Peter and Ray hastily wrapped their gifts. Peter had bought Egon a package full of computer upgrade disks. Ray, on the other hand, had bought Egon a stack of computer games. Suddenly, the raucous singing stopped. "Uh oh, Ray! I think we had better hi-tail it out of here and finish wrapping." "I think you're right Peter. Let's go hide out in the basement lab before Egon gets out of the shower." "Right behind ya."
Just as they left, Egon waltzed out of the shower humming The Ride of the Valkeries. "Hmm.. I could have sworn that I just heard Raymond and Peter conversing out here.." Oh well for Egon. He toweled off and got dressed. Then just as he was putting on his socks, he heard a voice say, "Egon, could you come in the kitchen? Ray tried to fix the coffee machine again!" "I'll be right down!" Just as Egon walked into the kitchen everyone else popped out and yelled "SURPRISE!!!" Peter gave him a serious noogie and said, "Happy Birthday Blondie!" "Very Humorous, Peter. Now could you please let me go?" "I don't know. What do you guys think?" Suddenly, Egon was almost knocked over by the continuing hugs from his friends.
