Author's note: So I was listening to 'Ache' by James Carrington and it just screamed to be written about. Needless to say, the 'soft rock song the band was playing' is it. In order to fully appreciate the story I suspect you may need to listen to the song at the same time (just youtube it.) Perhaps though, you don't need the song, I don't know. Either way, I hope you enjoy!
It was a clear night the night that Sirius and Remus were married. Every star shone brightly over them and a cool breeze blew through their party from time to time. The trees and the flowers were in full bloom.
Isn't
it strange, the way things can change
Life that you lead, turned
on its head
suddenly someone, means more than you felt for
house
in its yard, turns into home.
The band was playing and people were dancing on the dance floor that was set up on top of the grass. In the middle of the dancers, Remus and Sirius danced in each others arms to the soft rock song the band was playing. Sirius stroked Remus' back as they rotated rhythmically to the music. Remus lay his head on Sirius' shoulder. Sirius smiled down at his partner.
Sorry but I meant to say, many things along the way, this ones for you.
They had been apart so long. First Sirius was in Azkaban, then he fell through the veil; seemingly lost for ever. Just when Remus was beginning to face the prospect of life without Sirius, he had returned, though no one knew how. It had never happened before.
Have
I told you I ache, have I told you I ache,
Have I told you I
ache, for you...
Sirius liked to say that it was their love that brought him back. Remus would always laugh and say it wasn't likely. Truthfully though, he believed it.
Have
I told you I ache, have I told you I ache,
Have I told you I
ache, for you...
All the odds were against them. There was no reason to suggest they'd get their happy ending and yet here they were, surrounded by their friends, finally allowed to be together.
The
time that it took, writing words for my book, seems to have broken
off
the gate that I shut,
last time I got hurt
seems to
have opened itself
Remus looked up and placed a small kiss on his new husband's lips and smiled. Sitting at one of the tables, Harry and Draco watched the happy couple. They're hands were intertwined underneath the table.
oh
what its spinning now,
its trying to catch me up
tell me to
appreciate, here and now
Watching Remus and Sirius gave them hope, hope that maybe they stood a chance. They smiled at each other, knowing what they were both thinking. Suddenly Draco stood up and gestured toward the dance floor. Ignoring the curious looks of their friends, they moved to the middle of the group.
I'm
sorry but I meant to say
many things along the way
this ones
for you.
In the middle of the dancers, Draco and Harry danced in each others arms to the soft rock song the band was playing. Harry stroked Draco's back as they rotated rhythmically to the music. Draco lay his head on Harry's shoulder. Harry smiled down at his partner.
Have
I told you I ache, have I told you I ache,
Have I told you I
ache, for you...
Sirius ran his hands through Remus' hair. "I love you so much."
Have
I told you I ache, have I told you I ache,
Have I told you I
ache, for you...
Harry kissed Draco softly on the lips.
Have
I told you I ache, have I told you I ache,
Have I told you I
ache, for you...
The stars above them shone brightly, smiling down upon the lovers below.
