Getting up early wasn't something Serge did often, especially since becoming a thief. Staying up late into the night breaking into houses didn't lend itself well to getting up at the break of dawn even when a person didn't like dozing until it was almost afternoon.

But it wasn't a usual morning, there was something driving him to creep out of his hotel room first thing in the morning, to quietly open the door to Magil's chamber and slide inside. And that then made him slump slightly with disappointment when he saw Magil was awake, sitting at his room's desk already wearing his mask. "What is it, Serge?" he asked, frowning slightly.

"I... er... just..." Serge hemmed and hawed, rubbing the back of his head, then a flash of metal caught his eye and he noticed his dagger sitting before Magil. His excuse came to him. "I wanted to know when you were planning on leaving for that temple. We shouldn't keep Kid waiting, right?"

So far as Serge could tell around the mask covering half of the other man's face, Magil's expression softened slightly as he stood up, tucking the dagger into his belt. "Ah. Of course, you're worried about her." He rested one of his large hands on Serge's shoulder for a moment as he left the room. "If you're ready, we can leave immediately. If I'd known you were up, we could have left already."

"Oh! Well, I'll just go grab my hat and meet you outdoors, okay?"

"Hmm." Magil nodded and head for the front door.

Serge went back to his room to do what he'd said and fetch his hat, unable to do anything else now even though he'd hoped to get some more sleep after his trip to Magil's room. But what else could he have said? 'I'm here because when I saw you without your mask on your face was so beautiful that I needed to see it at least one more time, without a battle distracting me? I'm here because even if you'd woken up to find me gawking at you it would've been okay with me, because I would have had a chance to see whether my imagination's playing tricks on me or there really are hints of green in your eyes?' He jerked his hat off the back of the chair it was hanging on distractedly, accidentally hooking it onto the water glass he'd had on his desk at the same time and knocking the cup off of it, only noticing at the sound of it hitting the ground and shattering. He frowned at it, and kept up his line of thought at he pulled the hat on his head. 'I'm here because I don't even notice what I'm doing when I'm thinking about you now, which isn't a good state to be in.'

He snorted to himself and turned back toward the door, leaving the shards of glass for the cleaning staff to take care of and going out to meet Magil. "Ready when you are."

"Turn around," Magil ordered, and Serge did so, not knowing why it was necessary but trusting it was somehow necessary. The next thing he knew Magil was wrapping his arms around his chest from behind, murmuring a few words that suddenly sent them soaring into the air. "Try not to move. I won't drop you, but staying still will keep this more comfortable for both of us."

Serge wondered if it meant anything that Magil was holding onto him instead of casting another spell to let him fly himself. He wondered if it was wrong of him to hope that it did when they were so close to finding Kid a new body.

He wondered if it would be possible for him to twist around and knock that mask off so he'd be free to gawk at Magil the entire flight.
