Episode One
"Something Wicca This Way Comes"
It's a rainy night in Rosewood, Pennsylvania, and we see the outside of an apartment complex, we see a cat with a symbol on its collar in the kitchen looking for food, the owner, a woman in her early twenties places a bowl of food on the ground for the cat. "There you go," she says petting the cat. She then walks over to an alter set up in the living room and begins lighting the candles with the tip of her finger, starting a chant. While she's chanting someone is walking into her apartment from the window. "Ancient one of the earth so deep, master of moon and sun. I shield you in my Wiccan way, here in my circle round, asking you to protect this space, and offer your sun force down," Someone walks up behind her as she begins to hum. She turns around and stands up. "What are you doing here?" She asks him. The man pulls out a knife and plunges the knife into her stomach.
Spencer Hastings was in the house that she grew up in, standing on a ladder in the living room, trying to fix the broken chandelier just as her younger sister Aria walked in. "Hey, anyone home?" Aria asks as she puts up her umbrella and jacket on the coat rack by the door and placing down two bags of art supplies. Spencer finishes up and speaks. "In here, working on the chandelier," she announces to her sister. "You know I would have been here myself to meet the electrician, but you know I can't leave the law firm till 6," she adds as she steps down from the step ladder. Aria looks at her sister, "I guess I didn't realize how long I was at the art store," Aria tells her as they walk into the kitchen. "Did Noel call?" she asks. "Yes, and he sent those," Spencer says pointing out the daisies on the kitchen counter, she walks by them smells them and picks up the note. "Thinking of you every second of the day, good luck tomorrow, love Noel', aw what a sweet boyfriend," she says reading it out loud. "So, what did your bosses say? Are you going to get a show at the museum?" Spencer asks.
Aria places the card on the table and then looks at her sister, "They said I need a little more exposure," she tells her, "I'm thinking of taking a class at Hollis, maybe to get a foot closer into the door of my art being plastered over the walls at work." She lets her sister know how she's feeling, she looks at her. "Didn't you already take a class at Hollis? What's the point of doing it again?" Spencer wonders about her sister, she wants her to be a famous artist but doesn't know if it will work out that way. "I know you're concerned about me, but I'm fine," Aria walks to the fridge to grab a bottled water. Emily walks through the back door and puts her bag on the ground by the table. "Hey, guys," she says grabbing an apple out of the bowel on the table and then sits on the counter. "What's for dinner?" The girls look at each other puzzled, Spencer answers the question. "Lasagna is in the oven," she tells them. Sometimes she hated being the older sister.
Emily feels something poking her butt, she grabs it after putting her apple down. "What is this?" she asks, Aria notices it. "Don't tell me you found mom's spirit board?" She asks. Spencer looks at her sister who knew her mother, "Yeah, I found it in the basement when I was looking for the circuit tester," she tells them. Emily turns the board around inspecting it. "To my four beautiful girls, may this give you the light to find the shadows. The power of four will set you free, love mom," she looks at them. "Did she know I was going to find you?" Emily looks at them. "I guess she hoped we would, we never knew what she meant by that inscription. Maybe we should send it to Hanna, she's so in the dark maybe a little light will help," Spencer tells them. Aria begins to stand up to her sister, "Your always so hard on Hanna," she tells her. "Aria, she has no vision, no sense of the future," her sister adds to her previous statement. "I really think Hanna's coming around," Aria adds to hers. "As long as she doesn't come around here, I'm fine," Spencer says and walks to the conservatory.
Outside of the apartment complex of the dead woman, there's a small crowd of people that include EMT, police, and reporters. Noel Kahn is on the phone with his girlfriend, Aria. "Sorry about the bad connection, Aria, I'm in Brook Haven covering a story. I wanted to see if you got your flowers," he asks, she answers. He notices the detective's car pulling up, "Well, hey, look this detective I've been waiting for has finally arrived, so I'll call you later, okay?" He hangs up the phone after saying goodbye. A detective in his middle twenties with dark hair steps out of an unidentified car, he walks up to him. "Detective Cavanaugh, is it the same M.O. as the other victims?" Toby ignores Noel and continues walking towards the entrance, he walks in and looks at the cop. "What do you have for me?" He asks. "Another dead female, mid to late twenties," the other cop answers. "It's the third one in three weeks. Same murder weapon?" He asks. "Double-edged steel knife," he answers. "Some sort of ceremonial tool that isn't supposed to be used for cutting purposes," Toby tells him.
A little while later, as the rain began drizzling down, Aria stood in the living room peeking out the window, she sees a cab pulling up. She walks by Spencer, who is checking out the chandelier again. "I don't get it, I tried everything, there's no reason why the chandelier shouldn't be working," Aria walks up to her as Spencer gets off the ladder. Emily is reading on the couch next to a lamp. "Uh, you know how we've been talking about what to do with the spare room? I think your right, I think we need a roommate," Aria tells Spencer as she grabs the toolbox and heads towards the kitchen. "We can offer up the room with a reduce rate in exchange for help around the house," Spencer tells her. "Hanna's good with a wrench," Aria tells her, Spencer turns and looks at her sister, with a slight laugh. "Hanna couldn't recognize the difference between a wrench and a screwdriver, besides Hanna lives in New York," Spencer adds. "Not anymore," Aria says following behind her sister as she walks back to the living room. "What?" She turns around upset. "She left New York, she's moving back in with us," Aria tells her. Spencer is feeling ambushed. "You've got to be kidding me," she tells her. "I could hardly say no, it's her house too, it was willed to all of us," as she said that Spencer gets more upset. "Yeah, months ago, and we haven't seen or spoken to her since," Spencer tries to calm herself down a little. "Well, you haven't spoken to her," Aria is starting to hate this. "No, Switzerland, maybe you have forgotten why I'm still mad at her," Spencer looks at her sister. Emily gets off the couch, looking at them. "Hey, calm down, besides I've never met Hanna, it'll be a good opportunity for me," she tells them. "When does she arrive?" she adds.
"Surprise," the door opens Hanna looks at her sisters. "Found the hide a key," she says holding the key up. Hanna walks up to her sisters. "It's so good to see you, Aria, Emily?" She asks as she walks closer to her sisters. "Spencer," she says calming her voice down. The cab honk's its horn. "I should..." Hanna says. Aria looks at her. "I'll get it..." she walks to the door grabbing Spencer's purse, "That's my purse," Spencer says. "I'll help," Emily says following behind. "I'll pay you back," Hanna tells her. "Save your pennies," she notices the rolling suitcase Hanna dragged behind her. "Is that all you brought?" she adds. "It's all I wanted to bring, dad said I could leave some things behind." She tells her. "Is he still alive?" She asks in almost a mocking tone. "Look, Spencer, I know you don't want me here..." Hanna begins to tell her sister. "We're not selling the house," Spencer tells her. "Is that why you think I came back?" She asks her sister. "The only reasons Aria and I gave up our apartments is because this house has been in our family for generations." She tells her sister. "No history lesson needed, I grew up here, too. So, can we talk about what's really bothering you?" She asks, "No. I'm still furious with you," Spencer tells her.
"I never touched Andrew," Hanna tells her sister. "Whoa," Spencer can't believe that Hanna is bringing this up. "I don't know what that trust fund, Chardonnay-slugging, polo wearing told you..." as she begins to tell her sister, everything Aria and Emily walk in, Aria holding Spencer's purse. "Hey, how about we have dinner together?" She asks trying to make the peace between her two sisters. "That sounds amazing," Emily says trying to stay neutral. Hanna looks at Aria, "I ate on the bus," she tells her as she storms off to her old bedroom. "I'm not hungry," Spencer says and storms off to the living room. "Ok, we'll try the group hug later," Aria tells them.
Inside of the apartment complex in Brook Haven, Toby is in the apartment in the living room talking to his partner, Darren Wilden about the murdered victim. He looks at the tattoo on the victim's neck, it's a full circle with three interlocking arcs inside.
"What is it?" Darren asks. "I don't know, it's the same tattoo that we found on the other three victims," Toby tells him. "So, the murderer is killing women who belong to the occult?" Darren asks. "No, these women didn't belong to the occult. They, they practiced their craft alone. These women are witches," Toby tells him. "The murderer is killing witches?" He asks. "He's just not killing them. He's hunting them," he adds. Kit comes to Toby's feet. She meows. Toby goes over and pats her, he picks her up and looks at her collar, has the same symbol on it that was tattooed on the witch. "So, you believe in witches, Cavanaugh?" Darren asks. "Do you believe in UFO's?" Toby asks him. "No." He answers. Toby looks at Darren, "Do you believe in people who believe in UFO's?" Darren looks at his partner. "I think they're crazy, but yeah." He answers the question, Toby looks him. "I like to believe there are people out there who like to believe their witches," he answers Darren's question.
A little while later Hanna and Aria are playing with the spirit board in the conservatory, eating popcorn sipping on wine, both sisters have their fingers on the pointer trying to get their question answered. "Stop pushing the pointer," Aria complained to her sister. "I'm not," Hanna squeaks. "You used to always push the pointer," Aria tells her. "I'm not even touching it," Hanna tells her sister, just as Emily walks in and plops herself on the table near them. "What are you guys doing?" She asks
as Aria takes a sip of wine. "We're playing with the spirit board. Why don't you join us?" Aria tells her younger sister. "Bonding time," Hanna smiles. "I'll make more popcorn," Aria stands up and walks to the kitchen nearby. "Add jalapeño," Emily tells her Aria looks at her confused. "Trust me," Emily adds. "What did you guys ask?" Emily asked. "We asked if Spencer would have sex with someone other than herself this year," Aria tells her. "Please say yes," Hanna says as she barely presses her fingers on the pointer. The pointer moves itself to the letter A and Hanna gasp "What?" Emily asks her sister, "I-It moved," she announces. "You're just pushing it again," Aria says from the kitchen. "I was barely touching it," she says as Emily looks down and it moved to T. Emily jumps off the table. "Aria get in here," Emily tells her.
"What the hell is going on?" Aria asks as she walks back into the room. "I told you it moved," Hanna keeps looking at the board, her hands backed away. The pointer moves to T. "Spencer," Aria calls her sister. It then moves to I. As Spencer walks in, she gets upset with her sisters. "What?" She looks at the three of them. "The pointer moved," Hanna tells her sister. "Well did you push it? You always pushed it," Spencer tells her as the pointer moves from the I to the C, Hanna picks up the pen and writes down what she saw. She then shows her sisters, ATTIC is written on the paper. "I think it's trying to tell us something," Hanna tells them. BOOM. There's a loud clap of thunder and the lights go out. Aria is freaked out and is walking towards the foyer, she grabs her jacket and throws it on, trying to grab the phone with the wire. "I don't care what you think, I'm leaving," Aria tells Spencer. "Don't you think you're overreacting, we're perfectly safe here," Spencer tells her sister. "Don't say that in horror movies the person who always says that is the next to die," Aria is more panicked. "It's pouring rain, there's a psycho on the loose and Noel isn't even home," Spencer is trying to calm her down, with the flashlight in her hand.
"So, I'll...I'll wait in the cab until he gets off," she tells her sister. "Oh, that'll be cheap," Spencer gets concerned for her sister. "I saw that pointer move, Spencer," she is scared. "What you saw was Hanna's fingers pushing the pointer, she's playing on a joke on us, there' nothing in the attic," she begins to tell her sister. "I've got a flash light all you need to do is come with me to the basement," Spencer tries to calm down her sister. Emily walks by them, a little worried herself. "What are we doing?" She asks them. "You two are coming with me to the basement, we need to find the circuit tester," she tells them putting the flash light on them as she speaks, Aria sees Hanna walking upstairs a flash light in her hand. "Hanna will go with you... to the basement," she says and makes Emily and Spencer turn around. Hanna stops on the steps. "I'm going to the attic, I'm not waiting for some handy man to come tomorrow," she lets them know. Spencer looks at her sister, "None of us have been able to open it since Grams died, what makes you think you can?" she asks her. "Because I haven't tried," she tells them. Spencer then walks to the basement, Hanna upstairs, Emily follows Spencer. "Hanna... Spencer, wait," she says following Spencer & Emily.
Hanna walks up the stairs from the second floor to the attic door, she jiggles the door handle trying to open it. Nothing. She pushes her body hard against the door to open, nothing. She begins to give up and walks down the stairs as she does, she hears the door creak open. She turns around and sees the door opening, she walks to the door and slowly walks into the attic. She sees a light shining on a dusty old trunk in the corner under a window. Hanna walks to it, leans down and opens it. She sees a book inside with a triquetra on the cover, she pulls it out blows some dust off and then opens it, the first page says, 'Book of Shadows', she then flips two pages and lands on Invoke the Charmed One's Powers. She begins to recite it, "Hear now the words of the witches, the secrets we hid in the night, the oldest of gods are invoked here, the great work of magic is sought, in this night and in this hour, we call upon the ancient power, bring your powers to we sisters four, we want the power, give us the power..." she says the last part. Aria, Spencer, and Emily all are on the second floor walking up the attic, downstairs in the living room a bright light flashes from the ceiling lighting up the lights.
A moment later, all sisters are in the attic, Spencer rushes by Hanna Aria and Emily follow suit. "You got the door open?" She asks with pure curiosity as Emily asks, "What are you doing?" Hanna stands up and looks at her. "You wouldn't believe me, it just opened," she tells them holding the book open in her hands. "Uh... reading an incantation. It was in this book of shadows, I found it in that trunk," she tells her sisters. "Let me see that," Spencer says kneeling down to look at the book as Hanna stands up and looks at Aria and Emily. "What kind of incantation?" Aria asks "Well, it said something about there being three essentials of magic. Feeling, timing, and phases of the moon. If we were ever going to do this, now - midnight on a full moon - was the most powerful time." Hanna begins to tell them. "This?" Emily questions. "Do what this?" Aria finishes it off. "Receive our powers," Hanna tells her happily. "Our powers. Our powers? Wait, you included me in this," Aria gets upset. Spencer stands up with the book. "She included all of us, 'To we sister's four', it's a book of witchcraft," she tells them. "Let me see that," Emily says wanting to know more. Spencer hands it over.
The girls are walking downstairs to the first floor no books in hand, "Spirit boards, books of witchcraft, figures all this stuff happens when you arrive," she says looking at Hanna. "Hey, I wasn't the one who found the spirit board," she corrects her sister. "It doesn't matter, because nothing happened, right Hanna?" Aria asks. "My head spun around, and I vomited split pea soup. How should I know?" she tells them. "Well everything looks the same," Emily tells them. "Yeah your right," Hanna confirms. "Yet the house needs work," Spencer says. "And everything feels the same. So, nothing's changed right," she looks at her sisters. They all head off to different directions. Hanna to the attic, the rest to bed.
The next morning, Hanna is sitting on the steps in front of manor sipping on coffee as Aria walks outside, she turns to acknowledge her sister's presence. "Good morning," she takes a sip of coffee. "You're up early?" Aria asks, Hanna was never an early bird. "I never went to sleep," she confirms the previous statement. "Don't tell me you put on a black conical hat and spent the night flying around the neighborhood on a broomstick?" She asks as she sits down next to her sister. "The only broom I ever owned sat in a closet next to a mop," she tells her smiling. "Where's Spencer and Emily?" she asks her sister. "Spencer has work, Emily has a class," Aria confirms what Hanna suspected. "So, what were you doing?" Aria asks wanting to know. "Reading," Hanna says one simple word letting her know. "Out loud?" She asks. "No. According to the Book of Shadows, one of our ancestors was a witch named Pandora Wyatt," she tells Aria, as she looks for her ride. She then looks at her sister, "And we have a cousin who's a drunk, an aunt who's manic and a father who's invisible," she lets her sister know. "I am serious. She practiced powers. Four powers. She could move objects with her mind, see the future, clairaudience and stop time. But before Pandora burned at the stake, she vowed that each generation of Wyatt witches would grow stronger and stronger, culminating in the arrival of four sisters," Hanna lets her know what she read, Aria stands up walks inside and grabs her purse. "These sisters' would be the most powerful witches of all time. I think we're those sisters," Hanna tries to convince her. Aria walks to her car that's parked on the curb while listening to her sister go on about this witch stuff. "Look, I know what happened last night was weird and unexplainable, but we are not witches and we do not have special powers besides, Grams wasn't a witch and as far as we know, neither was Mom." Aria kisses Hanna goodbye, "So take that Nancy Drew," she adds as she walks to the car. "We are the protectors of the innocent. We are known as the Charmed Ones," Hanna tells her as she gets in. "Mm-hmm," Aria shuts the door behind her. "And I beg to differ about Grams."
Spencer Hastings is having a good day so far, this morning after she woke up, she walked to the kitchen of her child hood home and made herself some coffee and ate some yogurt from the fridge. When she arrived at work, she felt relieved that nothing weird as happened today. She was almost half expecting something to ruin her day, like Hanna, she couldn't believe that Hanna did that 'spell' or whatever you want to call it to turn them into witches. Spencer stood in the mail room of the law firm she's interning at, putting the mail on the cart into the right spots when her boss Mr. Stanley Buckley walks in she stops what she's doing. "Spencer, just the girl I was looking for," He tells her. "Sir..." She tells him, he looks at her. "Follow me, I have new associate starting today. He's filling in for Reinhardt since she's moving and going into maternity leave," he lets Spencer know what's going on. Stan starts walking to Vanessa Reinhardt's old office, Spencer follows. "I hope you two like each other since you're going to be working on the 'Quinton' case together,' he tells her. They stop in front of the office, the door is open a jar, Stan knocks on the door letting them in. As Spencer walks in she smells a scent that she'd loved to hate. A man walks up, he's wearing a suit and has on a neck tie when Spencer notices his face she gets a little pissed. It was Andrew Campbell, her ex-fiancé.
"Spencer, it's so good to see you," he says looking her over. She looks at him, holding in all her anger and acting like everything is normal. "Andrew, the feeling's mutual," she tells him. Stan looks at the both of them, "You know each other?" He asks them. She looks at her boss, holding in all composer. "We were engaged to be married," Andrew tells him, "Ah, I hope you two can be civil, working together," Stan tells them and then begins to leave. "I'll see you later, I have a few appointments today," he tells them and walks down the hall. Andrew looks at Spencer, "I'm so glad I got this job, now I can see you every day," he brings his hand to rub her arm, she grabs his arm and twists it. "We might be working together but I don't have to be nice to you," she twists it harder making him wince a little. "Let go, Spence, you don't want to get yourself in trouble now, do you?" She lets go of his arm. He walks behind his desk and sits down. "Now before we get started why don't you go get us some coffee," he looks at her. "Starbucks mocha latte," he tells her. Spencer begins to walk out of the room with a fake smile on her face. "With extra whip cream," he adds. Spencer brings her hands in front of her like she wants to choke him and begins to pretend to in her mind. In Andrew's office, his tie tightens on his neck and he begins to choke, he grabs the scissors off his desk and cuts the tie off, then falls with his chair on the ground.
While Emily Fields was sitting in her sociology class all she kept imagining she was swimming. She needed to relax a little, she left as soon as she opened her eyes this morning, she had a class to head to and now had the rest of the day to herself, so she was going to the pool to practice. She didn't know if she was skeptical or not, she didn't know if she should believe Hanna. Were they witches? All she needed to do was get into the pool and everything would feel right again. She hears people talking around her, and then she hears someone call her name. "Emily," as soon as she hears her name she turns around and sees a petite redhead walk up to her. "Hey Bre," Emily tells her as Bre Lyndon walks up to her. Bre is in Emily's sociology class with her. "Where you are heading?" Bre asks out of curiosity. "To the pool, coach lets me have it to myself a few times out of the month," she tells her, noticing Bre's green eyes and the freckles on her shoulders. "Mind if I join you?" Emily looks her over... "Sure, I have an extra suit in my locker," she tells her. Both girls walk to the pool.
After changing into the bathing suits, Emily and Bre walked by the pool, Bre is sitting on the side of the pool feet in, Emily is getting in her stance to dive in. She looks at Bre, "You getting in?" She asks. Emily has her hair up into a tight bun. "Let me watch you first," Bre answers. Emily jumps in and swims across the pool and back. When she comes up from swimming back, Bre slides herself in. "Good job, you'll defiantly make it to the Olympics one day," she tells her. "Thanks, that's my goal," Emily lets her know. They swim closer to each other. "Do you have a backup plan?" Bre asks wondering. "My dream is to be an Olympian but if something was to happen I'd like to do social work," she tells her. "That's sweet, but you'll be representing America one day," Bre smiles at Emily. "What about you, what are you majoring in?" She asks her. They look at each other, just floating into the pool around each other. "I still haven't made up my mind, but I narrowed it down to three things. Photography, journalist or professional blogger," she tells her and smiles, Emily smiles back. "Sounds like you have a plan," Bre comes closer to Emily, "Yeah, I do," Bre's hair is slick back from the water. "You're so pretty," Bre tells her. "Thanks," Emily tells her. Bre goes in closer and kisses her, Emily doesn't kiss her back. Bre then stops herself and goes under the water, turning around. 'I'm so stupid, I shouldn't have done that, why would I even think she was interested,' Emily hears her say as Bre begins to get out of the pool. "Wait, Bre, you're not stupid," Emily tells her. "What?" She asks as she wraps a towel around her. "I didn't say anything," Bre tells her. 'Just get out of here, quickly, don't make this any more awkward than it is,' Emily hears her. "But..." she's looking straight at her, but she didn't say those last words. "I got to get going just realized I have this paper due tomorrow," she grabs up her clothes bag and clothes. "I'll return this the next time I see you," she says and leaves. Emily looks at her leave and wonders. "What the hell just happened?'
Aria Montgomery walked into her boss's office at work, she looks at him walking to his chair and sitting down. "Aria," he tells her as she walks in. "Please come take a seat," he adds. She walks in and sits down on the chair in front of the desk. "Duncan, what's this about?" She is getting a little curious, she's been worried that what Hanna did last night would come to bite her in the butt and hasn't been calm almost all day. "I received a phone call this morning about a job position and you're the first name that popped into my head, I really hope you will accept this," he tells her. She gets a little happy maybe her day will turn around, maybe she won't turn into a monster. She smiles, "What is it?" He looks at her, his hopes high hoping she will take this job. "Rosewood High needs an art teacher, someone new and fresh. I thought you'd be perfect," he tells her. Her smile fades away. "A teacher?" She asks making sure she heard right. "This is perfect for you, you can still work here on the weekends and that will be two paychecks and you'll be molding the minds of the young," he adds.
"My art..." she begins to tell him. "This will help you, this will be another foot into the door of having an art show one day in these here halls, Aria, I could have asked Polly, but this is great for you, I promise," he convinces her to take it. "Teaching. And I will still have my job here?" She asks confirming what she just heard him say. "Yes. So, it's a yes?" He asks. "It's a yes," she confirms. He walks up to her and smiles. "Not only that but I have another surprise for you," he walks to the door. She stands up and follows him. They walk down to a young guy putting a picture up on the wall, Aria notices it's one of hers and gets excited. "You're adding one of my paintings?" She asks. "Yes, as a congratulations," he tells her, the guy with the painting stumbles and begins to drop it but Aria throws up her hands and freezes the room. She looks at the picture half way from falling to the ground and her boss next to her just frozen in time. She walks in front of her and waves her hands in his face. "Duncan, Duncan," she then walks to the picture grabs it and places it firmly into the guy's hands. She then walks back to her spot, after a few seconds everything goes back to normal. The picture is now on the wall, in place. No one knows what just happened. Except for Aria.
After the morning Spencer just had she didn't want to be around Andrew for another minute, she is sitting in the break room at work, trying to remember why she was here. Andrew walks in with a female coworker, Brigette, flirting his ass off. "So, I was thinking, maybe I can get your number," he tells her. Brigette smiles, on the verge on giving in. Spencer stands up to leave, "He's a cheating ass hole, it's up to you if you want to be the latest skank to fall for his game," she exits the room. Andrew follows behind her, Spencer walks by the bathrooms. "Why would you do that?" She turns around to face him. "We aren't together anymore, you can't act like a jealous bitch," he tells her. "I was just warning her, she needs to know what she's dealing with," Spencer tells him. "Spencer, I told Stan to take you off the Quinton case, so we're not working together," she looks at him pissed off. "Why would you do that?" She looks at him. "I thought I could handle being around you and act like a decent person but you... you're just bringing this jerk out of me," he tells her. She looks at him. "Don't you mean the real you is coming out?" She asks. "I don't want to see your face every day, I don't want to work near an asshole who kissed my sister and tried to say she came on to him. I don't want to even think of you. I was perfectly fine working here because you weren't here," she tells him, people had started gathering around. "I can't do this, I quit," she storms off. "Bitch," he says, Spencer gets pissed off and the water fountain that Andrew is standing by explodes.
Hanna read the whole Book of Shadows and all the other family books she found in that trunk. When she finished reading it she knew she had to do something, so she decided to go shopping. As she walked into a little boutique in a small corner in the city/suburbs, she noticed all the cute things she was tempted to buy. She focused on the purses, as she touched one, she saw something in her mind. She saw a guy coming in with a gun and robbing the place, a customer walking in and he shoots the cashier and runs while she's trying to give him all the money. The clock says it's five minutes to noon. After that weird moment, Hanna walks up to the counter, notices the clock behind her, it's seven minutes til noon. She looks at the young worker. "Are you the only one working here today?" The young lady looks at Hanna, "My manager's in the back," she tells her. She looks at the clock, one minute, the guy walks in, looking collected. He walks up to the counter, pulls out the gun. "Give me all the money," the cashier gets the registers opened and starts giving him the money, "Hurry," he tells her. A customer walks in and just before he can shoot the cashier Hanna pushes the robber and the gun goes off.
After the cashier called 911, she rushes by Hanna. "How are you feeling? Is he?" Hanna looks at her, "Knocked out, I'm not so sure about myself..." Hanna looks at her, the cashier looks at her and sees a gun wound on Hanna's upper thigh. "You were shot, there's an ambulance coming, too," she tells her. A few minutes later the cops show up and take Hanna to the hospital.
As Spencer stood by the counter in the hospital she felt uncertain about what to do next. She always knew she wanted to be a lawyer, that's all she ever dreamed of. She couldn't believe she quit her internship. She also smelt a familiar cologne she always loved, it was the same her old high school boyfriend always wore. The nurse comes up to her. "Your sister had a small surgery to remove the bullet, she's going to be perfectly fine, she's actually in the process of being released, she should be out in less than 15 minutes," she tells Spencer. "Thanks," she tells her. The nurse then walks up to Toby who Spencer is facing back to back with. "Dr. Morgan is in surgery he's not going to be available for another thirty minutes but if you want to wait," she tells him. "Thank you, I will," as he says that Spencer turns around, they notice each other. "Spencer Hastings," he tells her. "I haven't seen you since high school," he tells her. "It has been a while," she teases him. "Since we're both waiting why don't I treat you to a bad cup of coffee," he asks her. She looks at him. "I'd like that'," they walk to the coffee machine. "Last I heard you were back packing Europe," she tells him. "Well I came home, became a Detective," he informs her as he puts change into the machine. "Third generation," she adds. "How is your family?" she asks. He pulls the cup out when it's done and hands it her, starts the second cup. "Their fine, parents still together, what about you? How have you been? Which sister's in the hospital?" He asks getting inquisitive and making small talk. "Hanna, there was some accident this afternoon. I'm pretty good, even though I quit my job this afternoon so I'm basically rethinking my entire future," she tells him then takes a sip of the coffee. "Everything's going to be fine, you are destined for greatness Spencer Hastings," he tells her. They continue talking about their lives since they broke up.
After what happened with Bre, Emily felt she had to swim it off, so that's what she did, she swam for another hour and half. No interruptions, no thoughts, nothing. Just her and the water. After drying off and changing into her regular clothes, she headed home. As she walked through the back door she threw her back pack on the ground by the table, looking for one of her sisters. "Spencer...Aria...Hanna?" When she realized she was by herself, she got more comfortable. She walked to the fridge and opened it, searched for something to eat and looked at the clock, it was 4 in the afternoon. She grabbed a pre-made sandwich in a baggie, a yogurt, a bottled water and then closed it. She grabbed a spoon from the dish drainer on the counter, then the bag of Lays Potato chips. She walks into the living room and plops herself down on the chair laying her food on her stomach. She opens the water and takes a sip just as her phone rings. She digs into her jeans pocket without letting anything falling and pulls it out. She looks at the caller ID, it's her big brother. She answers it. "Hey, Cale, how's everything going?" She asks. "Pretty good. Life's being busy without my little sister calling me every day. You can't tell me you've been that busy," he tells her. She knows she's been distracted but hey... "You know, why don't you come over, no one else is here we can hang out, just you and me," she tells him just as she hears the doorbell ring. "That's not you, is it?" She asks as she picks the stuff up and puts it on the coffee table. "No, but I can't tonight I'm taking Piper to dinner," he tells her. Emily stands up and walks to the door. "Well tell her I said hi," she says. "Will do, bye sis," he hangs up so does she as she opens the door. "Bre, what are you doing here?" She asks.
Bre holds up a plastic bag with Emily's extra suit. "I needed to return this and apologize for what happened earlier," she hands it over. Emily looks at her, "Come on in," she jesters by opening the door wide, Bre walks in and Emily shuts the door. "Nice house, you mentioned it's been in your family for years?" She asks trying to remember what she said last time, when they had a study group at the house. "Yeah, but I only been in it for less than year," she tells her. "Look I've never kissed a girl before, and when I kissed you earlier, it felt... good," she tells her. Emily looks at her, knowing the feeling. "You're not the first girl I kissed," Emily admits that to her. "I had a crush on a good friend of mine when I was 14, let's just say it didn't work out," she says walking to the living room Bre follows. "I don't care if you don't want a relationship. We can still be friends," she turns around and tells her. Bre walks closer to her. "That's not what I want," Bre grabs Emily and kisses her again, passionately this time.
After Aria grabbed her things for the day, she searched for her cell phone and found it dead in her pocket so as she walked out of museum she looked down the side-walk for a phone booth and two stores down there was one up front. She walked to it and closed the door behind her as she walked in. She pulled out change from her pocket and then dialed Spencer's number, it rang a few times then the voice mail came up. "Spencer, something happened today, ugh, something weird that I need to tell you about, my phone's dead I'll just see you when I get home," she says then hangs up. As she walks out of the booth, Noel is standing there she jumps from being scared. "You scared me," she tells me. "I'm sorry, I just wanted to see you, congratulate you," he tells her. She looks at him, confused. "How did you?" She begins to ask. "I went in to look for you and saw your art on the wall," he tells her. She looks at him. "I was thinking I could take you out for Chinese since it's your favorite," he tells her. "Please don't talk about food when I'm starving," she tells him. "Mm hotdogs, burgers, pizza," he says start naming stuff, she leans into him and kisses him. She then is calm and not freaking about from what happened earlier.
Spencer and Hanna are sitting in a restaurant that's not that crowded, the counter is empty besides the two of them. Spencer's drinking coffee and Hanna ordered a shot of whisky. "The chosen ones? The Charmed ones? Hanna this is insane," Spencer tells her. "Are you telling me that nothing strange happened to you today? You didn't freeze time, move anything, or hear voices?" Hanna asks her sister, "Andrew came back into my life and made me quit. Look, Hanna you may think that you can see the future, which is pretty ironic," she begins to tell her. "Since you don't think I have one, that my vision of life is cloudy compared to your perfect hell? Even if you don't want to believe me, just once can't you trust me?" she asks her sister. "I do not have special powers," Spencer says and the cream moves by itself. Hanna notices this, too. "Really?" The cream fills her cup of coffee by itself. "Looks pretty special to me," Hanna adds. "Oh my god... It just...I can move things with my mind?" Spencer asks. "With how much you hold inside, you should be a lethal weapon by now," she tells her. "I don't believe this..." she grabs the whisky and drinks it all. "Are you ok?" Hanna asks. "No, I am not, ok. You turned me into a witch!" Spencer freaks out. Hanna looks at her oldest sister. "You were born one, we all were. And I think we better start learning to deal with it," she tells her.
The girls are now walking down the street, still talking about magic, their family. "When I was looking through the Book of Shadows, I saw these wood carvings. They looked like something out of a Bosch painting. All these terrifying images of four women battling different incarnations of evil," Hanna begins to tell her. "Evil fighting evil, that's a twist," Spencer says. "Actually, a witch can either be good or evil. A good witch follows the wiccan rede. 'An it harm none, do what ye will.' A bad witch or a warlock has but one goal: to kill good witches and retrain their powers. Unfortunately, they look like regular people. They could be anyone, anywhere," Hanna tells her. "And this has what to do with us?" Spencer asks. "Well, in the first wood carving, they were in slumber but in the second one, they were battling warlock. I think as long as we were in the dark about our powers, we were safe. Not anymore," she finishes off.
In the cab, Aria and Noel are sitting together, she's holding a box of fortune cookies. "Has anything weird or unexplainable ever happened to you?" She asks. "Sure. It's called luck or fate or some people call it miracles. Why? What happened?" He asks her. She changes the subject. "Forget it. Even if I could tell you, you'd swear I was crazy. Now open your fortune cookie," she hands him one. "Ok," he opens it and reads the fortune, "soon you will be on top," he says reading the paper. "It doesn't say that," she teases him. "Yes, it does," he teases back. "Let me see that," she snatches the paper from him. "Is that a bad thing?" She reads the paper, "Of the world. Soon you will be on top of the world," she tells him. Noel looks at the driver. "Can you make a left on 7th please," he asks the driver. "You got it," the driver says back. "Hey, I thought we were going to your place," Aria says. "We are, but you reminded me of something, I want to show you the old Bowing building. The view is breath-taking," he tells her.
Spencer and Hanna are at the pharmacy. "I'll be right back with your prescription," the pharmacist tells Hanna. "Take your time," she tells him. Spencer stops him for a second, "Excuse me, where do you keep the aspirin?" She asks. "Aisle three," he tells her then goes back to finish the prescription. "Chamomile tea works great for headaches," Hanna tells her sister. "Not for this one it won't," she says as they wander up the aisle. "You know I'm not afraid of our powers. I mean, everyone inherits something from their family, right?" Hanna says accepting this. "Yeah, money, antiques, a strong disposition. That's what normal people inherit," Spencer begins to tell her. "Who wants to be normal when we can be special?" Hanna asks.
"I want to be normal. I want my life to be… you know, isn't this aisle 3?" Spencer questions looking for the aspirin. "Well, we can't change what happened. We can't undo our destiny," Hanna tells her. "Do you see any aspirin?" She asks. "I see chamomile tea," Hanna tries to make her sister feel better. "Look I have just found out that I'm a witch, that my sisters are witches, and that we have powers that will apparently unleash all forms of evil. Evil that is apparently going to come looking for us. So, excuse me Hanna, but I'm not exactly in a homeopathic mood right now," Spencer tells her sister, raising her voice a little. "Then move your headache out of your mind," Spencer stares angrily at Hanna and a bottle of aspirin flies off the shelf and she catches it. "You move things when you're upset," Hanna says. "This is ridiculous!" Spencer tells her. "You don't believe me," Hanna says. "Of course, I don't believe you," Spencer tells her. "An-drew," Hanna says and a few more bottles fly off the shelf. "Now let's talk about dad and see what happens," Hanna says egging the subject. "He's dead, Hanna," she tells her sister, trying to get off the subject. "No, he's moved to New York but he's very much alive," she tells her sister. "He isn't to me. He died the day he left mom," Spencer tells her. "What are you talking about? He's always been a major button pusher for you. You're mad he's alive, you're mad I found him and you're mad I came back. Dad, dad, dad, dad, dad, dad, dad," Hanna continues on about their father, Spencer makes all the medicines and bottles fly off the shelves. "Feel better?" Hanna asks. "Lots," she adds. "The Book of Shadows said our powers would grow," she tells her. "To what?" The girls begin to laugh.
Noel and Aria are at the old Bowing building, he opens the door. "Well, here we are," he lets her. They walk in. "I don't care how amazing this view is, I'm not going in there," she tells him. "Come on, come on. I have a surprise inside," the walk to the elevator and step inside. Noel pressed the button and the elevator starts to go up. "You are going to love this. I bet you tell Spencer, Emily and Hanna the moment you see them," he tells her. "I never mentioned Hanna came home," she tells him. "Whoops," he pulls out a knife. "What is this?" She asks getting scared a little. "It's your surprise," he tells her. "Noel, stop it, your scaring me. Damn it! I'm serious!" she is freaking out. "So am I. See, I've waited six months for this. Ever since Grams went to the hospital. I've known for quite some time that the moment the old witch croaked that all your powers would be released. Powers that would reveal themselves as soon as the four of you got together again. All that was needed was for Hanna to return," he begins to tell her. "It was you, wasn't it? You killed all those women?" She asks scared out of her mind. "Not women, witches!" He tells her. "Why?" she gets curious. "It was the only way to get their powers. (In a demonic voice) And now I want yours," he tells her. Aria screams as Noel raises his arm about to stab her. She puts her hands up and he freezes, the elevator freezes as well. "Ok, think, stay calm. I got to get out here," she tells her trying to calm down a little. She then climbs onto the next floor. Noel unfreezes, and he grabs her leg. He tries to pull her bag into the elevator, but she grabs a wooden two-by-four and hits him over the head, he falls to the floor unconscious.
Spencer was checking her voice mail as she walked into the manor, she listened to Aria's message but right now she has her phone on speaker, so Hanna can hear the one from Andrew. "Spencer, it's Andrew. I've decided to let you come back, no apologizes needed. I just hope you don't mind getting on your knees," he tells her. "Is Aria home?" Hanna asks, just as Emily walks by them holding a cat, the same one from before. "Not unless she turned into this cat," she tells them. "Where did it come from?" Spencer ask as Hanna shuts the door behind them. "It ran in the house earlier when a friend was leaving," she tells them what happened. "I made dinner, you hungry?" She asks leading them into the kitchen. "Smells good," Hanna announces as she smells the baked chicken, macaroni and green beans. "Spencer?" Aria comes in the house, "In here," she says walking in the hall. "Lock the doors, check the windows, Hanna in the Book of Shadows, did it say how to get rid of a..." Aria says freaked out. "Warlock?" She asks. "Oh My God," Emily's freaked, she drops the cat. We then see Noel coming to.
"I'm calling the cops," Spencer tells her sister. "And tell them what? That we're witches? That some freak with powers beyond comprehension is trying to kill us? Even if the cops did come, they'd be no match for Noel and we'd be next," Aria tells her. "I found the answer, come on," Hanna says from the stop of the stairs. We see all the girls sitting in a circle on the floor around a low table. They have placed candles in a circle around them. "Okay, we've placed nine candles anointed with oil and spices in a circle," Hanna begins to say. "Wait, I only count eight," Emily says correcting her. Hanna holds up a birthday candle. "A birthday candle?" Emily questions her. "I guess Grams was a little low on witch supplies," Hanna says. "Alright, we need the poppet," Spencer says. Aria holds it up, "Got it," Hanna lights the birthday candle and puts it in the pot. "Right, we're set. Get ready to cast the spell," Emily says. "Okay, first I'll make it stronger.," she begins, and she gets a daisy and places it on top of the poppet. "Your love with wither and depart, from my life and my heart, let me be, Noel, and go away forever." She presses the daisy into the poppet and places it in the pot. "Okay, the spell's COMPLETE," she finishes. "Let's hope it works," Spencer says. They watch the poppet and daisy burn, it then explodes and catches on fire.
Cut to Noel, he's walking down the street and suddenly he starts screaming in pain. Hundreds of daisies tear through his skin.
Back to the girls. They are cleaning up the attic, Hanna picks up the pot and has a premonition. "Wait! It didn't work," she tells them. "What?" Aria asks. "The spell, it didn't work," she tells them. "How do you know?" Emily asks. "When I touched the pot, I had a flash. I saw Noel and he's on his way here," she tells them. They all run out of the attic and down the stairs. They run to the door and Spencer opens it. Noel is standing there. Emily, Aria and Hanna scream. "Hello, ladies," Noel says. Spencer stands in front of her sisters, they slowly walk backwards. Spencer uses her power and pushes him against the wall. "Emily, Hanna, Aria, get out of here now!" They all run upstairs as Spencer tries to stop him. "Cool parlor trick, bitch. You were always the tough one weren't you, Spencer?" He teases her. She uses her powers and pushes him again, harder. She runs upstairs to the attic. "Hanna, you're right, our powers are growing," she tells her. "Put as many things against the door as you can," Aria says as Emily grabs a chair, Hanna and her push a dresser against the door, Emily adds the chair. Noel is closer to the attic door. "Take me now, Spencer. My powers are stronger than yours," He laughs. "Do you think a chair will stop me?" The chair slides off the dresser. "Do you think a dresser will stop me?" The dresser slides away from the door. "Have you witches figured it out yet? Nothing, nothing can keep us away," he laughs again.
"What do we do? We're trapped," Aria says scared. The door explodes and there stands Noel. The girls scream. "Come on, we'll face him together. Do you remember the spirit board?" Spencer tells her sister. "The inscription on the back," Emily says. "The power of four will set us free," Spencer says as a fire surrounds them, they hold hands. "Come on, we got to say it together," she tells them. "The power of four will set us free," the girls continue to chant over and over. A strong wind blows around them, they keep chanting. "I am not the only one! I am one of millions! In places you can't even imagine! In forms, you would never believe! We are hell on earth!" Noel tells them, then explodes and disappears. The girls stop chanting.
"The power of four," Spencer says.
The next morning Spencer walks outside the grab the newspaper off of the steps, she sees Toby walking towards the steps with a coffee in his hand. "Good morning," he tells her. "Hey, this is a surprise," she tells him. "I've been feeling really guilty about that bad cup of coffee. I just want to make it up to you," he teases her a little. "So, you brought me a good cup of coffee?" She goes along with it. "Oh, this? No, it's mine. I, uh, just wanted to ask you out to dinner. Unless you're afraid," he asks. "Afraid of what?" She wonders. "Oh, you know, having too good of a time, stirring up old memories, rekindling an old flame," he tells her. "Hmm, good point, better not," she teases him. "Ok, Friday night, eight o'clock?"
She hesitates when he says this. "You're hesitating?" he notices. "Yeah, but it's not what you think. It's just my life has gotten a bit complicated. Can I call you?" He pulls out a business card and hands it to her, "Take care, Spencer," he turns to head to his car. "Bye, Toby," she tells him as her sisters walk out of the house. Emily's holding the cat. Toby notices it looks like the same cat from the other night. "It's Toby. I told you heard I man's voice," Hanna says. "What did he want?" Aria asks. "He asked me out," Spencer tells them. "And you said...?" Emily wonders. "I started to say yes and then I stopped. I wondered if I could date. I mean, do witches date?" she asks them. "Not only do they date but they usually get the best guys," Hanna tells her sister.
The girls laugh a little. "You three will not be laughing when this happens to you. Believe me, everything will be different now," Spencer says. "Well at least our lives won't be boring," Emily chimes in. "But they'll never be the same," Spencer adds. "And this is a bad thing?" Hanna questions a little. "No, but it could be a big problem," she tells them. "Spencer's right. What are we going to do?" Aria wonders. "What can't we do?" Hanna questions it. "We are going to be careful, we're going to be wise and we're going to stick together," Spencer tells the three of them. "This should be interesting," Aria says. The girls walk into the house, Spencer is the last one in and she looks at the door and shuts it with her power.
