As Red and Snow stood side by side looking down on the grave of Red's mother Snow spoke quietly, "I'm sorry you lost your family."

Red reached out, pulling Snow closer to her and dropping a kiss atop the shorter woman's head, "I didn't lose my family, Snow," she said just as quietly, "I protected my family."

Snow smiled brightly up at her lover and friend, "Let's go find our cabin in the woods."

Red nodded, "Let's," she said leaning down to steal a kiss from Snow, her hand resting firmly against Snow's midsection where though there was no sign of it and though Snow did not know Red could hear the steady and fast pace of a child's heart. Her child, hers and Snow's, a child they had talked of but not planned, a child that was supposed to come when all was safe and well. Red made a silent promise to always protect Snow and their child, to always protect her family just as she had protected them against her mother mere hours before.
