Sherlock was on the train to Hogwarts for the first time since he graduated. That was 5 years ago and he was now 23 years old and had finally completed his training for the job he was excepting here today as the new teacher for Defense Against The Dark Arts at Hogwarts. He knew he had some big shoes to fill replacing Snape when he retired and left to be with his husband a slightly younger than him wizard named Vladimir. However he knew that he was more than capable to help the next coming generations of wizards to better protect themselves against dark magic. Sherlock had always had a fascination for it and so no one was surprised when he went into it as a job and worked with the best teachers to be able to one day teach the class at Hogwarts. That day had arrived finally and he was very excited.
Upon arrival to the schools gates he felt his magic swirl excitedly inside of him as it too was very excited to be here and getting to do what it loved to do so much working to fight against dark magic. As I was entering the gates I bumped into someone with blonde hair who upon closer inspection was incredibly handsome and looked to be about 7 years older than Sherlock.
"I'm sorry I really should pay more attention to where I'm going but I'm just so excited to be back here."
"It's fine really I'm just running a little late to my set up for my first class."
"Oh well my name's Sherlock I'm the new Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher."
"Well it's nice to meet you Sherlock I'm John the new flying instructor and Quidditch referee."
When Sherlock shook his hand he felt a giddy rush and his magic zinged with happiness. John was shorter than him by about 4 inches and Sherlock felt the power coming off this alpha male and felt like it was wrong to be towering over this man. They stopped shaking hands and made plans to meet up for lunch so they could get to know each other a little better and to have a friend since they were both new teachers here.
Sherlock headed off to his class and after getting trough a couple of them realized that while a few students knew what they were doing most seemed to know as much about the subject as he did about the flying instructor, which was very little. He knew he had his work cutout for him this year turning these young wizards into people capable of defending themselves against the powerful dark magic they could potentially face out in the wizarding world.
Lunch with John was fun and they learned a bit about each other just starting with the basics like how they both went to school at Hogwarts and became teachers because they loved the profession they were in. They didn't get into anything too personal because they had just met but Sherlock could tell this would be the beginning of a great friendship and career at Hogwartz. As he watched John walk away he also for the first time also felt a little hope this would lead to something more.
