During The Midnight Hour

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Piper was having trouble sleeping. Too many thoughts were running through her head. She reached to her right and switched on her bedside light.
"Leo?" Piper shook him gently. He seemed to have trouble waking up. They both were very busy lately and most of the nights as soon as they laid their heads down they both were out cold. "Leo!"
"Huh.. what? Is something wrong?" Leo turned to look at Piper, squinting due to the light that was now right in his face.
"Have we.... oh never mind, it was a stupid thing to worry about."
"I know you wouldn't have woken me if you thought it was stupid." Leo propped his head up on his hand so he could see her better. When she tried to looked occupied with her nails, he tried again. "Come on Piper, what is it?"
Piper turned over so she now faced Leo and ask him the question that had been bothering her for awhile now. "Do you think we lost that flame that all new couples have?"
"That's crazy, how could you think that?"
"Well, I don't know. I mean we used to sleep all snuggled together. Now look at us. There's at least twelve inches between us and we are both fully clothed from head to toe. We even had our backs facing each other. I mean look at this," Piper pointed to the comforter almost completely wrapped around her and the sheet that was the same way around Leo. "We might as well have separate beds."
Leo sighed. He knew she was right, but he tried to make it look like they hadn't reached the point in their marriage where they stoped showing affection all the time. Maybe he didn't want to admit it to himself. "OK that is not all true. It's more like ten inches between us."
"Leo..." Piper sat up in bed with her pillow in her lap, but turned to face him as well.
"And, and look. I'm not wearing any socks." Leo pulled back the sheet so Piper could see his exposed feet.
"That's because you just kicked them off."
Leo opened his mouth to argue that statement, but closed it because she caught him. He then sat up to face her in the bed. "Piper, I..."
"I just want that spark back." She sighed. "I want more romance. I want more fun." When she said that last sentence, a smile spread across her lips. Piper grabbed her pillow and hit Leo square in the face with it before he had any time to prepare himself.
Laughing, Leo quickly recovered and pulled Piper down on top of him before she was able to hit him again. He started tickling her and laughed just as much as she did. He stoped when he thought she couldn't take it any more and with his hand he moved the hair that had fallen in her face behind her ear. When she stoped laughing, he looked in to her eyes. "You want more romance, do you?" With that, his hand cupped her cheek and kissed her like he hadn't for a while. Why had they stoped being so intimate with each other? He never wanted to stop kissing her now and didn't think he would be able to.
As Leo's kisses were making their way down her neck, Piper couldn't help but smile to herself. After all, her plan that she was thinking about in her head before she had woke Leo up was playing out even better then she had hopped for. When Leo returned his kissing to her mouth, her one hand played with the hair at the nape of his neck while her other reached over to turn out the light.
