It was a cold, dark night. Well, it always was, but this one seemed different. Elizabeth felt she was looking at it for the first time.
The doors opened behind her; she didn't phase at all. The figure moved towards her. She could feel their breath on her neck as they laid their head on her shoulder.
"Hello John," she said, a smile on her face.
"What are you doing out here?" he asked, wrapping his arms around her waist. She rested hers atop his.
"I'm starring out at the city," she replied, leaning back into his embrace.
"Well, it's cold out here. Back inside," he said, steering her back into the city. She pouted. "Why?"
He smiled. "Because, Rodney blew up something in his lab while Ronan and Teyla were in there. Now, he won't come out in fear of them coming out to get him."
Elizabeth frowned. "What happened to Ronan and Teyla?"
John grinned. "They turned purple."
She could help but laugh. "What in the world was Rodney doing in there?"
"Well, I didn't catch it all from Teyla, but he found a new ancient toy that helped them dye their clothing. Apparently, Rodney still hadn't figured out what it was, and when Ronan and Teyla came in to check on him, he must have turned it on and, well.." he shook his head. "You need to get him out of there."
When they reached his lab, Elizabeth took a deep breath. John opened the door and they both entered.
"Everything's purple!" John yelped, before gaining a glare from Elizabeth.
"Rodney?" she asked, seeing him under his desk.
"Yes?"
"Are you okay?"
"Yes, fine. How are Ronan and Teyla?" he asked, slowly coming out from his sanctuary.
"They'll be fine. Do you want to tell me what happened?"
"No, not really," he said, leaving the room.
"Wait, where are you going?" John asked.
"Um, I, unlike you, have been in here trying to stay alive for, oh, an hour." John raised an eyebrow. "I'm starving. Going to the commissary," he said with a flourish, walking away.
John turned to look at Elizabeth. She shrugged before tapping her ear piece. "Major Lorne, this is Weir."
"This is Lorne. What'd you need, ma'am?"
She smiled. "I need you to head to the commissary and keep an eye on Rodney for me."
"Yes ma'am, but might I ask why?"
"Let's just say Ronan and Teyla aren't too happy with him at the moment."
"Yes ma'am," the radio clicked off. John grinned at her. "You do know Rodney heard that entire conversation, right?"
Elizabeth smiled back at him. "No, he didn't." When John threw his confused look at her, she held up Rodney's purple ear piece.
"Nice."
