Rose always thought Cain was the first and last man she would ever truly love, that is until she met Edward Elric. Edward was a short fellow, but could stand as tall as the highest building in hard times. He had limbs out of steel, but a heart of pure gold. She was so caught up with getting Cain back, she never realized what Edward keep telling her- "If you love something, then let it go; if it comes back it's yours to keep- but the dead can never come back."
I never believed that there was a rainbow
With a pot of gold at the end
I'm much too smart for fairy tales like that
Yet here I am again
I thought this time, this time we're gonna make it
Why I thought so I really don't know
Maybe something in his eyes just told me so
Something in his eyes...
Those large golden orbs, that she wished she could look in those just on more time and thank their owner for giving here strength to move on- to keep living; but how did he convince her to do that, lies.
Tell me lies
And I'll come runnin'
I must have lost my mind!
I could close me eyes
And tell you just exactly what's comin'
Life's gonna turn just a little unkind
Rose remembers when he returned, after the rebellion in Liore, after her rape, after her child. She has never seen Edward so distraught; she so terribly wanted to comfort him, but that General who stole her virtue, had also stolen her voice as well. Rose felt so isolated to everyone, even Lyra and Scar.
Seems like everyone's sailin'
Way out on the sea
And I'm stuck here on the shore
Sun's always shinin'
But it's never on me
Why should I try anymore?
Before Edward left for the second time, Rose had reclaimed her voice and her people were free, but she wasn't out of hell yet. Lyra wasn't who she said she was and Scar wasn't there to protect her from Dante's wrath. That witch used Rose's baby to up a gate, and kept her under some spell at all times. Dante used Rose to fill her own agenda, a forced her to witness the murder of Edward, her friend and true love.
Tell me lies
Tell me lies
And I'll just keep right on comin'
This time I've got to believe in the dream
This time I've got to believe in his dream
One soul for another, Edward promised to come back, he never did- and he never will. "Just keep telling me lies Edward, and I'll always believe you."
