My first songfic! I do not own ALTA /or Invisible, that's by Taylor Swift
She heard that he was officially with that water-tribe girl now. If he had only seen her, things could have been perfect. But instead, he was just so focused on the water-tribe girl.
"She can't see the way your eyes light up when you smile."
How could he love her? Back then, the girl never even paid attention to him! She'd known for quite some time that he loved her, but she guessed it just never fully sank in.
"She'll never notice how you stop and stare, whenever she walks by."
And he did the same thing to her as the other girl did to him. But she still followed him throughout his whole visit to the village, praying to the Spirits that he'd just look in her direction.
"And you can't see me wanting you the way you want her, but you are everything to me."
It ripped out her heart when he told her that he loved that other girl. She tried to sound understanding, but inside part of her died.
"And I just wanna show you, she don't even know you. She's never gonna love you like I want to. And you just see right through me, but if you only knew me, we could be a beautiful, miracle, unbelievable. Instead of just invisible."
She highly doubted that the water-tribe girl saw his true spirit, a fun, passionate soul. She probably knew little more than the fact that he was a vegetarian!
"There's a fire inside of you, that can't help but shine through. She's never gonna see the light, no matter what you do."
She'd gathered every bit of information about him that she could, trying to figure out how to crack the code of his heart. Sadly, two days just wasn't enough time to solve the puzzle. At least for her, anyways.
"And all I think about is how to make you think of me, and everything that we could be."
She secretly hoped that one day he would come to his senses, come back to her, explaining that it took a while but he realized that he loved her more than any other girl in the world.
"And I just wanna show you, she don't even know you. She's never gonna love you like I want to. And you just see right through me, but if you only knew me, we could be a beautiful, miracle, unbelievable, instead of just invisible."
He ascended into the sky at sunset of that second day, leaving her life for what is now forever. This right now was like the final nail in her coffin.
"Like shadows in a faded light, oh we're invisible."
She had tried to talk to him before he left, but he wouldn't listen.
"I just wanna open your eyes, and make you realize,"
She sat now with a broken heart, something that her sister had told her was worse than any other pain.
"I just wanna show you, she don't even know you. Baby let me love you, let me want you."
The tears started, when the realization that he would never come back for her sank in.
"You just see right through me, but if you only knew me, we could be a beautiful, miracle, unbelievable, instead of just invisible."
Angrily, she slammed off the radio. The song was almost over, and she knew it by heart now, listening to it over and over since he left. But if she heard that last line one more time, she wouldn't make it. She'd crumble into a heap on the floor, and hope to disappear. Just like he did. She spoke the line to herself, attempting to banish the heartbreak, but in fact only made it worse.
"She can't see the way your eyes light up when you smile."
Meng cried herself to sleep that night, and the next day, felt a tad bit better.
Hope you enjoyed! Please review. And a special thanks to Taylor Swift, if she's reading. She's gotten me through some rough patches of my own.
