Harry Potter and the

Aftermath of War

Harry sighed, sitting down in the Gryffindor common room. The final battle had ended only hours ago, and he was completely exhausted. Lord Voldemort was dead, and yet the weight on his shoulders felt no lighter. So many had died during the battle, and he felt responsible no matter how many people told him otherwise. Colin, Remus, Lupin, Fred…. he could go on and on. But those were thoughts for another day. All he could think about was Ginny. Slowly, he started to drift off, all while thinking of her beautiful auburn hair.

Ginny climbed the stairs towards the Gryffindor common room. She was originally helping tend to the wounded, but her mom told her Harry needed her more. Mrs. Weasley always thought of her family first, to Ginny's delight. She was still horrified at the thought that he almost got himself killed. She was furious, but she needed him to hold her more than anything. She got to the door, and the fat lady didn't even ask for the password. In Ginny went, without complaints. And there was Harry, sleeping in one of the arm chairs. His clothes were dirty and he had cuts and bruises everywhere, but he was still the most handsome man in the world. Hermione would disagree, but thats irrelevant. Just as she turned around to leave so he could get some sleep, she heard a voice and jumped.

"Ginny? Is that you?" Harry questioned, sitting up in his chair. She turned back around to see his face fixated on hers. She had to stop herself from screaming at him; she also had to stop herself from snogging him senseless. "Ginny, it's so great to see.."

"You were dead." Ginny interrupted, holding back tears with all her might. "You were dead, Harry Potter. You went into a forest and almost got yourself killed. How do you think I would feel, huh?" She was screaming now, tears streaming involuntarily. " How do you think I would feel if I lost Fred, and then you? Did you even think of that!?" She stopped now, hanging her head.

"Ginny, I had too. I had no damn choice! He would have killed you, your mom, George, Ron, Hermione. I did not want to hurt you." Harry replied as calm as he could muster. Ginny looked at him with a tear-stricken face.

"I know, Harry. I.." She trailed off, fresh tears starting to fall. Harry got up and gave her a giant hug, holding her while she cried into his shoulder. He finally drew back, and kissed her long and hard. When they pulled away, he pulled her to one on the long couches, and they both fell asleep, holding each other.
