The day was calm in Townsville. Being that there was no trouble for the girls to put a stop to, they decided to stay home and relax. Blossom was reading a dragon ball manga. Over the last few months, she'd grown rather fond of eastern art styles and storytelling; especially when it came to martial arts and science fiction. Buttercup was training under heightened gravity conditions. Like her redheaded sister, she too was a fan of the dragon ball series. She wondered if there was a way they could transform like the characters in the anime and manga. As for Bubbles, she was spending her time playing her favorite PlayStation 2 JRPG, Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King. She'd previously spent hours learning the ins and outs of the game's design and developing her strategy skills, and was now grinding on metal slimes in the ruined abbey. Her goal was simple. She was going to raise the heroes' courage until he learned his most powerful healing spell, Omniheal, and not only that; she had a special surprise in store for her sisters.
The next day, an evil shadow monster descended upon the city. It was much more vicious than most of the girls' other enemies. Blossom and Buttercup were preparing to charge in, but Bubbles' head was in the clouds. She was deep in thought.
"This thing is made of shadows, right? Do you think our heat rays would work," Blossom asked her tomboyish sister.
"Can't know without trying," Buttercup replied.
The two rushed off, leaving Bubbles to herself. Unknown to them, she was waiting for just the right moment.
The fight raged on between the two puffs and the shadow monster for hours. Blossom and Buttercup were getting exhausted.
"Nothing we try is working! Where the heck is Bubbles," shouted the leader.
The answer to her question was simple; Bubbles was sitting on the ground in silence with her eyes closed in a type of meditative trance. She began to concentrate her energy into the sky. Dark clouds began to form, and it soon started raining. At first, the rain appeared normal, but after just a few seconds, her sisters noticed something.
"Hey, I feel better," Blossom exclaimed with joy.
"Me too," Buttercup concurred.
Bubbles got up and opened her eyes. A determined smile was on her face.
"Stand back, girls!"
Blossom and Buttercup did as they were told. They recognized something was going on. After focusing and condensing her energy into a single area, Bubbles summoned forth a mighty bolt of lightning, and the monster was slain. The clouds cleared immediately after.
"What was that, Bubbles," Blossom asked with a hint of awe as they flew away.
Bubbles giggled.
"I can teach you," she responded.
Buttercup could do nothing but stare. Bubbles was always the most timid, but somehow, some way, she unleashed a great strength from within. What kind of secrets were hidden in the three of them?
