Letting Him Breakdown
A/N: Poem in Lindsay's point of view for the "missing" scene from 4-11 Child's Play. Very sad episode. Please enjoy!!
He vanished from my sight
I wasn't sure what of what to say or do
All I knew is that I needed to be there for him
In whatever manner I could
How was I to know what I would find in the hallway
Would be the bitter shell of the man
Who to so many was Superman
Even more to the little boy at the end of hall
Even more to me?
I whisper to him softly
Drawing him out of his misery and guilt
He felt responsible
Who could blame him?
I knew Rikki would
But at this moment all any of us could do
Was be there for him and
Let him scream
Let him cry
Let him have his breakdown
I slid down the wall next to him
Laying his head in my lap
I stroked his hair
Letting him cry
Letting him sob
Letting him scream
Letting him breakdown
