Disclamer: I do not own Harry Potter, or any of the other characters in this story.
Luna had Hermione stumped, and not for the first time. Luna had seen Hermione and Draco fighting, and had approached Hermione as soon as Draco left. Luna said only one sentence and now it was stuck in Hermione's mind.
"The enemy of your friend isn't necessarily your enemy" was all Luna had said before she departed, and now that one sentence was making Hermione rethink everything that had ever happened between her and Draco. Hermione desperately wanted someone to talk to about it, but couldn't think of anyone that would be much help; neither Harry or Ron wouldn't help at all because of their stupid prejudice against Draco and of course Luna would be absolutely no help, speaking in riddles as she always did.
Hermione realised that the only person she could talk to about her "Draco Problem" was Draco himself. So she set out to find him as soon as she could.
Spotting Draco, Hermione quickly enchanted his books out of his hands and floated them along towards her and around the corner that she was peeking from behind. Draco, scrambling after the books, ran straight into Hermione, knocking them both to the floor. As soon as Draco realised who he had landed on top, he jumped and tried to hide the blush that had crept up onto his usually pale face. Hermione was still laying on the floor where she had fallen shell-shocked.
"Watch where you're going Granger," Draco said taking the innovative after realising Hermione wasn't going to say anything. Expecting some kind of reputable, such as "You ran into me Malfoy," or maybe "That was your fault," Draco was surprised by what she actually said.
"Why do you hate me Draco?" She asked tentatively as she got up off the floor and dusted her self off. Unsure of what to say, Draco just rubbed the back of his neck.
"Jeez Granger I don't hate you, I just…its just. Its just the principle of the thing. Gryffindor vs. Slytherin and all that," Draco said. "Its just the way I was brought up, I guess."
"Then why do you act like you hate me?" Hermione asked curiously.
"Its not just you, I act like that to everyone." Draco replied.
"Why don't you stop then?" Questioned Hermione.
"Because I can't," Draco shouted. "I don't know how to act around anyone. I'm mean, I tease people and I don't know why."
Hermione watched Draco as he shouted angrily at her, her brown eyes following him as he paced up and down as he continued to rant.
"Draco, you can stop being mean" she said. He stopped pacing to look at her and motioned to her to continue talking. "Maybe its just the way you think, if you think about being nicer maybe you will be." she finished. Draco just stared at her panting, his anger over as quickly as it started.
"I could," he agreed. Quickly he smiled at Hermione and wandered back around the corner. Hermione satisfied left as well. Both of them left with the happy knowledge that things would be different now, especially between them.
Please feed the dork, and review. :)
