After realizing that ff doesn't list Lanfan (or Ranfan, however you like to say it) or Lin (or Ling) as characters, (I doubt they have any of the Xingese), it drove me to write a Lanfan drabble.

Enjoy!

Manga-verse, blood and gore-stuff mentioned, spoilers up to ch.48.

I don't own FMA. If I did, well…

She hears the soft clink of the nail holding the snare down, as it slips from its resting place.

The pain in her shoulder makes it seem as if the- homunculus, it was a homunculus, wasn't it?- as if his sword still lay ledged there.

The next thing she knows, she's been thrust from the ground, and is hanging in the air. Like a trapped rabbit.

But her arm is numb, numb in its slicing pain. Between the jostle of being carried, and the thick stench of spilled blood, she can feel her limp, useless arm.

The alchemist emerges from the rubble, taking back his fallen arm.

"Hey, little girl!" He shouts at her, "You shouldn't use things like that in a town."

She's amazed she has enough energy to speak.

"Prince." And in her half-conscious state of mind, she can hear him reply, but can't make out what words have been spoken.

"If it was anyone else they would've been dead!" Does that mean he appreciates that fake arm of his?

"My left arm…It's no longer any use." There is no doubt in her mind anymore.

"..Then all will have been in vain…"

The stub of his shoulder, hanging wires and falling flakes of metal included, she realizes he took off his arm to use.

"You sacrificed… Your own arm?!?"

She draws the kunai out quickly, trying not to imagine the wave of pain that is to come. She braces herself, but that doesn't mean she can't hear Lin's pleas.

"Lanfan!!"

She doesn't listen.

"Don't do anything foolish!!"

"And inoperative automail is just dead weight…"

Despite the screams of refusal her mind sends out, she doesn't hesitate to thrust the blade at herself.

If it's a choice between life and death, would she do the same? The thought scares her, in a way, because she knows the answer.

Between the blinding pain and the sound of ripping flesh, she can hear his scream. But now that she's started, she can't stop.

Or perhaps what scares her more is that she knows that flesh and bone doesn't come off as easily as metal.

Poor Lanfan doesn't get enough love

And before you ask, I go by how the manga (you know, the kind that's been put into the books, not fan-translated) spells it. But that's just me. They're the same characters, no matter how they're spelled.

This is what happens when I read more than one volume at a time. (Notice how Ed sacrifices his arm in Rush Valley, and then later, Lanfan does the same? It's connected, I tell you!)

But seriously, LanfanxLin doesn't get enough love, either. Anyone know a good fic on that?
