It was a full moon, the stars were bright, the air was warm.. And Tris was finally truly happy. She was walking with a bounce in her step, dragging me along with her. It was beautiful, seeing her like this. Her hair was growing out again, and it was flying out behind her. I don't know if it was the way she was running with her shoes forgotten a mile back, or the fact that you could see her new tattoos peeking out from under her shorts and her old ones from her tanktop.
I stop and pull her back to me and kiss her.
"I love you." I whisper. "I love you so much." I kiss her nose. Tris giggles. "Did you know that, Tris?"
"I did!" She laughs. "I love you, too." She kisses the place above my heart, because that's where she can reach without standing on her toes. "I love you a lot." She laces her fingers in mine slowly and looks at me. Her eyes are sparkling again, happy, beautiful. "Thank you." She smiles. "Thank you for everything."
"You needed me, Tris." I say, playing with her hair. "You needed me, and I needed you, and we went through some serious shit, but… we made it." I smile and kiss her softly. "Thank you, really, for saving me."
"Really?" Tris's voice is soft, more gentle. "For saving you?"
"You know that." I pull her closer to me and whisper in her ear. "I was thinking about leaving before you came. You saved me. You made my life better, more than worth living again."
"I love you." Tris whispers. "I love you, so much."
"I know." I smile and I brush my lips along her cheek. "I knew before you did." I kiss her nose. "I love you, too." And I kiss her lips.
"You knew before I did?" She asks, tilting her head to the side.
"I did." I smile. "You wanna know how?"
"I really, really do." Tris admits, giggling.
I kiss her, pulling her closer to me. Her fingers tangle in my hair and I move my hand from her cheek to her hips and I looped my thumbs through her beltloops. She smiled into the kiss and pulls me closer.
"Hey, Tobias?" She smiles. "You should tell me now."
"Oh, right." I smile. "So, um, it's hard to explain a precise time, Tris. But… When you started trusting me more, climbing into bed with me at night.. Actually listening to me, because God forbid you ever listen to everyone." I kiss her. "It's just.. Little things, that's how I knew."
"Well. I do love you." She kisses me and pulls away, dragging me along again.
"Where are we going, Tris?" I ask, laughing.
"To the place when I realized I liked you." She giggles, pulling me along.
"Please don't tell me it's the Ferris wheel."
"It works, doesn't it? We don't have to climb it like the first time, so it'll be nicer this time." Tris laughs, continuing to drag me along.
"Tris. Come on. You went with me through my fear landscape. You know how terrified I am of heights."
"Yeah, but this will be different. I'll be with you. Please, Tobias?"
"I hate the effect you have on me." I sigh and sit in a cart while Tris turns on the death trap and runs back, jumping on right before it starts and landing in my lap. I wrap my arms around her waist. "Hello there." I kiss her cheek.
"You know, you must not be very nice." She giggles. "That's why you like me so much, isn't it?" She laughs, bringing back memories from a lifetime ago. I laugh.
"You're right." I laugh and kiss her neck. "I'm not very nice, either. That's why I like you so much, Tris."
