green

Everything is green.

His eyes are green, breathtakingly so. His face has a green tint to it. He says nothing.

The sky seems green in her confusion.

She begs her eyes to stop seeing the color.

She closes them in protest, but when she opens them she sees green again.

Another try to stop seeing the color, but again everything is green.

Her leg is broken, her nose is bleeding, her arm has a gash on it, and her throat is dry but all she cares about is the green.

The green that has terrorized her since she was fifteen when Moody performed the spell in front of her very own eyes.

She despises green for a good reason. She knew one day that the green would get her, but she hadn't expected it to be right now especially not by him.

"Please, don't," she manages to croak.

"I'm sorry, Hermione," he replies. She knows he's not sorry his voce gives away.

"Why me? Why Ron?" she asks, her voice quivering as she fights off her tears.

"I learned the truth about everything, I guess," he answers her, his green eyes shining brilliantly.

"Well, I guess there is no point in begging then." She closes her eyes once more and opens them to the color red, Ron's hair. She reaches for his dead hand in anticipation. "Do it now, then."

One last moment of bravery makes him smile. He mutters the spell and the last thing she sees is that dreadful green.

Harry pockets his wand and moves on.
