Yay! Another really short Destiel one! Yeah...this one is just REALLY short and was inspired by the quote at the beginning. ENJOY! :D
This one is dedicated to my friend Natalie, whose feels I think I killed.
Praying
"I prayed to you, Cass. Every night"
In Purgatory Dean prayed for Castiel every night. But Castiel never came. He had no idea if it was because the Angel couldn't hear him or he just couldn't come or if it was because Cass didn't care anymore or he was dead. All he knew was that Castiel, his Angel, never answered his prayers.
After getting out, Dean stopped praying. That was, he stopped until Castiel came back. Then he started up again, the same routine. Dean would call and pray, and Castiel would appear with his customary "Hello Dean." He would come every single night because they had, as Cass put it, "A profound bond." And somehow, Dean found comfort in that.
Castiel didn't know why Dean kept praying, night after night, he didn't know why Dean would smile that smile he only gave Castiel, and he didn't know why the Hunter would hug him tight before letting him go back to heaven. It was just the way it was.
And that was how it was for weeks, months, years...until one night Castiel didn't come. But Dean kept praying. He prayed and called and yelled and shouted until he had screamed himself hoarse, hoping that Castiel would finally come with his typical "you pray too loud". But he never came.
For a year Dean prayed until at long last he gave up on his Angel. He fell silent. Castiel was gone.
