My Vampiress

Smooth skin soft and pale, like the wings of a dove;
Dripping with blood, soft lips ruby red.
I welcome you tonight my love,
Welcome you with me, to the land of the dead.
Hair soft and black, like shadows do meld,
The night holds many dangers still.
In my arms, safely you are held,
Though many creatures wish you ill.
Hark! And as those creatures begin to appear,
We do take to the skies,
As those creatures that pursue us are near,
Just so that neither of us or our kind dies.
Though I must steal your blood for just one night,
I may love you evermore, bathed in pale moonlight.

(Author's note: The character Selene from the movie Underworld inspired
this poem.)
