A lot of people talk about the family tree of the Jellicles and speculate how they could all be related. I, too, am one of these people, so I decided to make this, but you can decide for yourself whether you think it's true, false and/or believable. I do know that you need two cats to make a kit, but I have only used the cats that are in the movie, so if I only have one of their parents it's because the other one is outside the "Jellicle circle."
Okay, so I'll start from the top; I think that Grizabella's mate was Old Deuteronomy and they had Munkustrap and Rum Tum Tugger. Then when Grizabella became famous, she left them. Munkustrap and Rum Tum Tugger, especially, found it hard to forgive her, but Old Deuteronomy found it in his heart to give her another chance.
Munkustrap then had kittens Coricopat and Tantomile with Demeter, which explains their psychic powers, which Demeter also has because she was always first to sense when Macavity came. Rum Tum Tugger never had a fixed mate as such, being very much a player and definitely not wanting to have kittens.
Demeter had two siblings, Bombalurina and *gasp* Macavity. I know a lot of people won't be happy about this but it does explain quite a bit, such as why Demeter was so scared of him; years of being intimidated by a big brother took their toll. Coricopat, Demeter's son, had a mate who was, in fact, Exotica.
Bombalurina became Alonzo's mate (I actually found this out by pausing the DVD during the Mating Dance) and they had Jemima, Pouncival, Electra and Tumblebrutus. Yes, I know, Bomby is very wild to be having so many kits, but who knows; maybe it was an accident (I hope not, although it is likely), maybe she really loved Alonzo?
Macavity had two kits, Mr. Mistofolees and Victoria! Which explains why Victoria is really flexible and Misto is really talented with magic, because Macavity is good at both. It is possible (and very likely) that Vicki and Misto's mother was forced into having Macavity's kittens. Because, of cause, Macavity would want to have an heir to carry on his "evilness," not that it worked.
Both Misto and Vicki had a mate; Vicki had Plato and Misto had Cassandra. I thought Misto and Cassandra would be perfect because they're both very mysterious and she seemed extremely flattered when he chose her for the trick he used to bring Old Deuteronomy back. Also, I think that Exotica and Cassandra were probably sisters, since they looked so similar and we always get them mixed up.
Now, for the old ducks! Skimbleshanks probably was the father of Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer, despite the fact that they're almost opposites, they look very similar. I also believe that Bustopher Jones and Jennyanydots were a couple because Jenn fainted when Jonesy gave her a flower (mind you, she may have passed out at the prospect of marrying someone as fat as him :P ). And, last but not least, Gus was Jellylorum's father (this I guessed because of their very close relationship) and Etcetera was Jellylorum's daughter.
If there are any cats I haven't mentioned, it is because I think they aren't related to anyone else inside the Jellicle circle. Bear in mind that I am only including the characters in the movie, NOT Griddlebone, Ghengis etc. Hope you enjoy!
