Heaven
Music, soft and pleasant, seeped through the air as she snuggled further into the heavy warmth that surrounded her. She liked being warm- it was cold outside.
Yes, very cold. Cold and dark.
She hated the dark.
Wait.
Her eyes snapped open and she clutched at the unfamiliar duvet that was tucked over her.
It was summer.
The duvet and cover seemed too heavy, now. She couldn't breathe. She pushed them away and cool air rushed over her body.
It wasn't cold outside.
She wasn't home.
Where was she? Had she fainted?
Strange… this doesn't look like a hospital.
She jumped as a soft scratching sounded from the wall. The music had stopped at some point. The wall opened
The wall?
and she turned toward it.
There was no-one there.
Nonsense.
She became aware that she was trembling. She slid under the covers, eyeing the wall nervously, stomach and jaw clenched in fear.
A strange, pungent scent filled the air. Perhaps she was dreaming. Her eyelids were suddenly impossibly heavy; sleep! A shadow appeared at her side- her fear vanished.
Angel?
She sighed softly before succumbing to the laudanum.
"Oh, Angel."
Watching sadly, Erik echoed her silently. He sensed that he had given up something precious bringing her down to the dark.
He wondered what it was.
Everything?
