Everything dies. They were two words he knew all too well. Just two words that could connect every insignificant living being together. Two words that haunted people, cascading broken pieces of their hearts into the darkness, only to be melded clumsily back together with the hands of time - but never truly whole again. Two words that no thing could deny, and in the end everything succumbed to their meaning and truth like a moth being drawn into light. They are inevitable.
And as he cradles them in his arms in the aftermath of death and heartbreak, he knows that their time will come too. Because everything dies. Except him.
