Before Koschei manages to get hold of this book, and claim that this was his idea in the first place, I am putting it forward first that it was in fact mine. We came to a conclusion a while ago that there's really nothing to do around here. It can be boring here, so we it would be a good idea to get a book and set each other challenges. Then we could write them down in here. That would at least give us a long term interesting project to do whilst we're here: things to do when we're bored.
Now, the rules of the book are thus:
The challenge is set and written down by the challenger.
The one who was challenged to complete the task, carries out that task, and brings evidence.
The one to have completed the mission then writes up a little report and slots it into the book. THE CHALLANGER IS NOT ALLOWED TO READ THIS REPORT, as it's more a combined diary between the two of us, although nothing stops us telling the other what we have written.
The positions then swap.
This is a dare game we supposeā¦
Now, I suppose I'd better fill in a little information about Koschei and myself. We are Time Tots, fifteen years old, and we are students in the Time Lord Academy. I suppose you can now see why we wanted to have something else to pass the time now. We've been best friends since we were eight and we joined the Academy. It's been a long seven years. It can be quite boring: especially in some of the classes we have to sit through. Passing notes in class has begun to lose its appeal now. Anyway, I'm off topic now. We both got bored so easily. That was where to idea of this book came from. I'd said to him after one particularly dull class (something about trans-dimensional physics: I wasn't really paying attention) that we needed to draw up a list of things to do in moments like that when we were bored. The conversation then evolved into getting a joint logbook like this one. Koschei went and got this book yesterday and I somehow managed to persuade him to not write in it until I had had a look first. I'm still not quite sure how I managed that. I'm enjoying this already. I've always wanted some kind of Time Log. I've seen my father's Five Hundred Year Diary. Now I know that five hundred years is a long time compared to my own lifespan right now. I mean, that is my life over again 33. times (in fact the three recurs to infinity and this is rounded to 71 decimal places but you get the general idea). It's a long time. But I don't think there's any sense in not being prepared. It's something my mother said to me when I was little.
Anyway, back to the business of slowly and secretly destroying the Academy. I for one can't wait for it. We'll start as soon as we can.
Author's note: If anyone has any ideas for the boys to do, please send them to me in a review or as a private message and I'll see what I can do about it.
Thanks.
