AN: Welcome to my new story, AKA my take on a Young Justice/Justice Lords plot. I can't promise that updates will be as regular as they were for (most of) Fixations, but I'm going to try not to let it fall out for too long… Anyways, I do hope you like it!

Title from 1984: "War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength."

Prologue: Bedtime Stories

"Daddy, will you tell me a story?"

"Of course Chum. What do you want to hear?"

"I wanna hear 'bout you an' the League stopping the Light!"

"Again? I just told you that story last night."

"But it's my favorite! It's why you do what you do!"

"Okay, kiddo. Since you insist. You know why the League was founded, right?"

"To protect people. From bad guys!"

"Exactly. To protect people from bad guys. Well, the League was really good at that. Too good."

"The bad guys were imitated."

"Intimidated."

"In-tim-i-dated."

"Yes. The bad guys were intimidated, so they joined together to create a League of their own."

"The Light."

"Yes. They called themselves the Light, and they wanted to take down the Justice League. Even though they were the best of the bad guys, the League still kept ruining their plans."

"Of course you did, Daddy! You're the best! All of you are! There's no

way they could win!"

"No. There wasn't. And they realized that. But they still thought they could hurt us."

"But you're invincible! They should know that!"

"No, Chum. No one's invincible. Not even Superman, though he pretends otherwise. They hurt us by hurting our loved ones. They figured out who cared about, and they hurt them. That's when we realized our methods weren't working. We used to go easy on the criminals, we thought they could get better, but they never did. We realized they never would. We needed to protect the innocent people out there. We needed to protect the people we care about. So we started taking them down permanently."

"But people didn't understand."

"Exactly. When we started taking care of the bad guys for good, some people couldn't understand that we were doing what we had to. For the greater good, we couldn't let them stop us. Now we're in charge and everybody's safe."

"'Cause you're the Justice League."

"Right, kiddo."

"I like that story."

"I know Chum. But it's still bed time."

"But I'm not… tired."

"Try saying that without the yawn next time. Come on, under the covers."

"Okay, Daddy. Love you."

"Love you more, Dick."

"Stay safe tonight, Batman."

"Always, for you. Sleep tight, my little Robin."
