The door swung open.
"Levi are-?" Erwin paused in midstep and mid-sentence, taking in the scene before him.
Levi was sitting on his bed in a white long-sleeve shirt and loose, black wool pants. The lit candle on the bedside table clashed with the darkness of night painting everything in either golden light or shadows.
What really surprised Erwin, however, was the young girl sitting in front of the ravenette, her back facing the sitting man. She was pale, even in the golden glow, with long black hair that Levi had been fastening into a braid. She looked no older than 16; a little shorter than Levi, with large eyes that shone a glossy black in the dim lighting. She had a thin, fragile looking face and she was wearing a soft, white long-sleeve shirt that looked a little too big on her small frame.
Levi, who had barely paused his braiding, glanced up an Erwin and calmly said "Unless you plan to stand in the doorway all night, get your ass in here and shut the door."
Erwin did as he was told after hesitating for a few seconds. He quietly shut the door behind him and stood just in front of it still staring at the girl who had averted her eyes long ago in favor of staring at her hands in her lap where the sheets pooled around her hips.
"Was there something you wanted Erwin?" Levi finally said tying off the braid with a thin black ribbon. He turned slightly to make eye contact with the blond.
"Who the hell is that?" Erwin blurted, no longer able to stand not knowing. Why is there a young girl sitting in Levi's bed? What is she doing at the survey corps headquarters? Who the hell is she?!
The questions buzzing in his head were cut short by Levi's reply. "This is Collie. She's my sister." He kept his eyes fixed on Erwin, gaging his reaction. His grey eyes remained calm but there was a quick flash of something for an instance that Erwin couldn't completely identify before it was gone.
Erwin, who was usually very good with words, stood there completely speechless. The only thing he could think to say was, "You have a sister?"
