Damon woke to a pleasant feeling. The feeling of soft hair and tender skin pressed against his chest. He embraced her more wholly, tucking her head further under his chin, her dark brown locks giving off a sweet fragrance of lavender and vanilla as they stirred. A snore.
Well, what he thought was a snore. He furrowed his brow and tilted his head down toward the sound, coming from the woman in his arms, he thought.
There it was again. A slight puff of air released from Emily 's mouth, followed by a sound resembling the combination of what he believed a sleeping chipmunk, kitten, and baby mustang combined would sound like.
And he couldn't help it.
He laughed.
He tried to hold it in, but as the sound increased, so did his laughter. He didn't want to wake his love, but this was just too much.
Emily stirred "Hmmmm…." She grumbled. She opened and blinked her bleary eyes, seeing her boyfriend nearly choking with laughter.
"What's so funny?" she asked tiredly.
Damon gathered himself, then cupped her cheek, bringing his forehead to rest against hers "You, mustang " he chuckled, kissing her nose.
"Really?" she stated blandly "Care to enlighten me?"
He smiled, trying to eat his laughter. "You snore" he stated plainly.
Emily sat up straight "I do not!" she snapped, almost indignantly.
"Oh but you do" Damon said gently, leaning toward her. He cupped his hand around her head, and Emily couldn't help but melt into him. "It's adorable though. You sound like a sleeping baby mustang very cute ."
"Hmph" Emily said, pushing away from him, still a bit sleepy from being awakened so suddenly.
"Come on, little mustang " he said, laying back down on the bed, patting the spot next to him. "You're still sleepy..lie down with me."
Emily pursed her lips in a pouty fashion, but did just that, curling into his side. She yawned then mumbled "I don't snore" before falling back into slumber.
Minutes later, Damon again heard the sound.
He chuckled "Whatever you say little mustang …I love you."
