The first thing he felt was the throbbing of his head and the next was confusion. Where was he? Why was it so dark? He knew he wasn't at home. He tried to move his extremities with no success. Why couldn't he move? A soft hand grabbed a hold of his wrist and pulled his arm up before letting it fall down. His hearing came back as a loud ringing noise, but, he could faintly hear a conversation between two girls.

"Well," one of them said in a monotone voice, "That was a bust."

"You sure you said the spell correctly?"

"I've been acting since I was five. I know my lines."

"I guess we're just not powerful enough."

His hearing became clearer and he heard the two of them walking away from him. He wished he could open up his mouth to ask them not to leave, to explain what in the world was going on. He needed answers. One of them walked back to him and he found himself once again hopeful. Maybe she came back to tell him what happened.

"I'm so sorry, Kyle," she began with a soft voice, "None of this would have happened if we weren't at that party. My life has just been so out of control lately. I wish I could have kept you out of it."

Leaning down, the girl pressed a gentle kiss to his lips before a door was opened, causing her to gasp and blow out one last candle before scurrying into a hiding spot. The sound of boots against the floor echoed louder as the man approached his limp body.

"Who's there?"

He felt a flash light being shone on his eyes and the brightness hurt. How long had he been asleep for? He wasn't even sure how he fell asleep in the first place. He kinda thought it wasn't in the rule book for his kind. All of a sudden, all the questions became so overwhelming and he felt rage bubbling inside his chest like a pot of water. Why couldn't he move? Why couldn't he speak? Where was he? With one final try, he found that he could move his fingers just a little bit and stiffly sat up just as the guard had found the girl crouched behind a counter. Leaning towards the guard, he wrapped his arm around the man's neck and pulled him back against the gurney he had been laying on in order to knock him out before throwing his fist against the man's chest to crush his rib cage.

"Kyle, no, no!" the girl screamed, running towards him and grabbing a tight hold on his wrist in order to pull his arm away from the guard.

When he finally moved his head to look down at the girl, his heart felt as if it were free falling into his stomach.

Violet.
