A/N: This is the first fanfic I've ever written, so I really hope you guys like it! I need to thank my friend Serena for being my editor and also encouraging me to put this on the internet!
Disclaimer: I did not invent Harry Potter, any of the characters, or the wizarding language (i.e. words like "muggle"). You can all thank the wonderful J.K. Rowling for that!

Hi. Hello. Hey. What's up? What is happening? What's da happs-The phone rang again. Oh god, I thought to myself, I can't do this.
A second later-and I don't even know why I even picked up in the first place-I heard myself say "You have reached my phone number... Now go leave a message!" There was an awkward silence until I remembered to yell "BEEP!"
"Lily," Said James from the other end. He obviously didn't fall for it-I could basically hear him smirking through the phone. "I'm not very good with these muggle contraptions, but I don't think that's how a 'word-mail' goes!"
"It's called a 'voice-mail'! Now I have to go... Because, uh... Petunia! Yeah, Petunia's calling for me!" I rushed. It was no use, James (annoyingly) could always see through me. I guess he could also hear through me?
"Come on Lil! Why don't you want to talk to me! I already know your sister doesn't even like you or any wizard for that matter-I still don't get what her problem is..."
Why? I wondered. Why does James give me that feeling? After all, Severus does keep warning me about him, and I know James isn't the nicest, but...
I sigh. Severus might become a Death Eater, right? He's always hanging around with his Death Eater friends-
"LILY! Hello?! Stop going all silent on me like that! Just stop it!" James yelled thought the phone, jerking me back to reality again.
"Why? First of all, why do you even talk to me?" I fired back.
Then I couldn't help but whisper so soft James wouldn't have been able to hear, "Why do you make me feel all funny inside?" though I knew full well why I was feeling like this. I just didn't want to believe it.
"I have something to say," James said, and for the first time, I could tell he was nervous.
"What is it?" I asked, a bit more gently than I was before.
I heard James take a breath. "I-I think, no, I know... Well-"
"I love you!" I blurted, before I could stop myself. The shock of my own outburst, well, shocked me, so it took even longer to comprehend what James had said at the very same time.
"I love you, too." He repeated, and the phone died.
