When Kitty had time to kill, she was often found in the living room, reading one of her Cosmo magazines. It was something that relaxed her, which is something she needed to do. So she grabbed the newest edition of Cosmo and sat down on the couch and opened it up to the first page. She soon found herself immersed in the magazine. She was so immersed that she hadn't heard her two boys walk into the living room. She didn't realize they where in the room until they sat down on the couch. Eric immediately reached for the remote control. The TV downstairs wasn't working and since Red was at work, they decided it would be best to kill time by watching TV upstairs.
Kitty looked up, startled at the weight difference of the couch, and looked at Eric and Hyde.
"What're you two doing?" she asked as both boys comfortably sat on either side of her.
"Watching TV," Eric replied, stating the obvious. Kitty rolled her eyes and went back to reading her magazine. She was sure there was an ulterior motive for them to watch TV in the living room, but she didn't want to push it. Turns out, however, that she was wrong. They just wanted to watch TV because within a half hour, Eric had his head on Kitty's shoulder, mouth open and he was snoring. Hyde was still watching TV, but she figured since Eric was sleeping, he would soon follow. Within ten minutes, Hyde was fast asleep; his head rested against the back of the couch, his mouth also open. No sooner had Eric rested his head on Kitty's shoulder, Hyde moved in his sleep and was outstretched on the couch, his head now resting on Kitty's shoulder as well. What had they done to fall asleep on the couch with her in between them, Kitty thought to herself. She knew she wouldn't be getting up soon because it was nearly impossible to move sleeping boys who where almost twice as big as her. So she stayed there. An hour passed, Kitty still reading her Cosmo magazine and Hyde and Eric still sleeping. Kitty wasn't one to complain because at least she had time to relax with a quiet house. However, that quiet that Kitty was enjoying soon was broken when Eric startled himself awake. Kitty hadn't been expecting her son to wake up so quickly, so it scared her a little bit.
"Are you okay, sweetie?" she asked as Eric sat up straight and rubbed his face with his hands, rubbing the sleep from his face.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Eric replied as he looked at his mother and smiled at her, hoping she believed him. He had been having a nightmare, one he didn't particularly want to share with his mother. Kitty smiled over at her son, wrapped her arm around his neck and pulled him into her. She knew he had just been having a nightmare, so she didn't push him. She planted a soft kiss on the side of his head. Eric allowed his mother to kiss him, knowing that Hyde was sleeping and to his defense, it did make him feel a little bit better after the nightmare he had just had.
"I love you, Eric," Kitty said as she untangled herself from her son.
"I love you too, Ma," Eric replied. He knew that Kitty always had his best interests in mind and that he was a little hard on her at times, but he really did appreciate everything he did for her. He then stood up from the couch and swatted Stephen so he would wake up. When the other boy did finally wake up, Eric shooed him downstairs and left his mother alone with the rest of her magazine.
